We've raced them, trail-ridden them and punched out some motos as well. It's time to look at the suspension and what else needs to be refreshed on the WR's before our next big shoot!

5 minutes of all the reasons why to do this and do that to your suspension, then haven’t changed your settings at all from track to track from your first adjustment? Just ride it you said. Personally as a trail rider I use a seal saver a lot due to mud & shit getting into seals. Seals don’t blow they just get dirty. You said the bike started to case out when ridden harder, screw the bloody Comp up, that’s why its adjustable? If your not racing in MXGP, I wouldn’t and don’t get to carried away with constantly servicing suspension, won’t make any difference to how you ride. Keep an eye on oil leaks and rectify as required & an eye on linkage bearings being well greased. Just ride it and tweak Comp & Rebound to suit your liking as you go. The oil that came out of those forks look perfect, trail rider would of just wasted time & money servicing them. I enjoy you videos , but this 1 was all about getting people to visit the suspension guy with your wallet when not required.

So you really think these guys who are pro riders don't know to adjust their compression clickers? Suspension makes a huge difference to how you ride talking from personal experience, as you said you were someone who wouldn't and doesn't get carried away with servicing your suspension maybe you should give it a try sometime. Keeping an eye on leaks, greasing bearings and adjusting the clickers are pretty basic things most riders do their bikes anyway. Oil doesn't last indefinitely, if it did we wouldn't have to service our engine oil. If you actually think about it these components work very hard on the bike, compressing and rebounding thousands of times every ride, friction creates heat in the oil and it loses its lubrication properties and becomes more viscous, thus moving through the shim stack quicker and providing less damping. When you hit a certain point where you are constantly adjusting clickers and blowing through your stroke it might be time to get your suspension serviced. Servicing the oil in your forks and shock can easily be done at home, Don't know why you think this vid was about sending people to a suspension guy or what Adam would gain from that, its not like he's in kahoots with every suspension shop in the country. Adam says himself in this video he doesn't understand guys who ride on expensive suspension setups and that he's been riding his stock factory suspension setup for 6 months and this guy flogs his bike harder than %99 of us.

@@chickentube2229 I know who these guys are, I’m sure they know how to adjust clickers too.( but as Adam said he didn’t over time) .I’ve been around a while, I’ve also been riding & working on dirt bikes for competition & trail riding for many many years. Was I or am I a Pro racer, no, I never got paid to ride , but I’ve competed with many Pro riders in my time.( worked on there bikes too ) Just because you are classed as a Pro doesn’t mean your classed as a technical genius also. My comments were based on trail riding maintenance, 99% of trail riders won’t over work the suspension that much, a Pro will if they are riding a lot of events in the calendar. The Pro won’t generally do much of there own major bike maintenance either. As a Pro rider it’s in your best interest to have your bike working at 100% efficiency . A trail rider can get away with much less perfection, he or she will notice very little difference to the bikes handling. You’d probably be surprised how well a now old trail rider like me maintains his bike, just for trail riding. I know the importance of a well maintained machine. Adam & crew are posting to the masses, lots of the people watching, in my opinion the trail rider can easily get wrapped up in the hype of what a Pro is doing and forget they themselves are not Pros and don’t need to carry out anywhere near the maintenance a Pro rider needs to stay at the top of there game. Engine oil is a total different ball game to suspension oil, especially if your just trail riding. Engine oil must be done regularly regardless of your skill level. ( still more if your a Pro ringing it’s neck every ride). Suspension does make a big difference to your bikes handling if it’s working badly, but Extending the service life as a trail rider compared to a Pro, I bet ya don’t notice anything other than less dollars in your wallet if you change oil/seals etc more than you need and are basing your maintenance schedule on a Pro riders schedule. Lastly I respect Adam as a great ambassador of the sport in Australia, I just wanted to point out to the average Guy & Girl out there that what Adam has posted here is not exactly how us average trail riders need to maintain suspension to enjoy the riding experience and or get long jeopardy out of there bikes suspension.

Okay, you bring up some good points, and I agree with some of what you said. However I still stand by my main point which was that servicing the oil does make a huge difference in the performance of your suspension. It is very cheap to do yourself and takes a couple of hours to do the full service, most people can do from home. Even if Adam was for some reason trying to get people into a suspension shop I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. Most people would benefit more from spending $1000 getting their bike setup for their weight and riding discipline more than they would from buying that shiny new pipe. Yes I agree that you don't NEED to upgrade the performance and for the average rider it may even be unnecessary. The main place where I disagree is servicing the oil, which I honestly think is absolutely necessary for the performance of your suspension.

@@chickentube2229 yep , doing your forks are easy if you know what your doing, but just because you or I find it easy, not all do and are relying on the shop to do it. Sounds like you are fussy about your suspension , and that’s ok, myself, I’m less concerned about it if it’s working as I feel it should & service it at long intervals or if it’s beyond minor seal cleaning via seal savers. Yep, lots of people riding bikes not set up for there weight or riding skill, but still , spending a grand for perfection in my opinion as a trail rider is not totally warranted.( I’d put the grand into keeping fresh tyres on the bike personally). The reality is most people struggle to understand how to get the Comp & rebound working to suit there skill level & or riding conditions. I personally ride a MX bike in the bush ( stock suspension). Would it suit everyone? NO, but that’s what I like, does it work everywhere? NO, But hey, I just ride to the conditions from ride to ride.( adjusting my Comp/rebound as required). Most people can and will get used to and adapt to what they are riding over time. Pros will try and experiment constantly for maximum performance. If what you are doing works for you stick to it 👍, might see you on the trail sometime, looks like you live near me to ✌️.

After a ride run some 100% silicone oil on the fork tube below the dust seal and compress the forks back and forth to help get the dirt out. Been doing this for years on dirt bike and mountain bike suspension never had a leaky seal. Fixed a leaky seal too on a bike I just purchased. Silicone Gun oil / rc shock diff oil same stuff
