Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

I’ve recently came home from rehab for opioid addiction. I just want people to know that in most cases, addiction comes from unhealed childhood trauma. You can go to rehab 100 times…but until you address and heal from your trauma, you’ll probably be right back to substance abuse. I can’t stress enough how important therapy is. Of course it sucks that this drug exists. We can arrest all the dealers and people will still find a way to get pills. What we really need to focus on is why people struggle with addiction in the first place. A lot of focus should be placed on mental health, this is the reason for addiction. We need to address reasons for addiction.

I agree with you and also feel like we need to teach our children how to be good parents and maybe, parenting classes in school? We can't give our children everything they ask for and we can't beat our children for every little thing because all we are doing is raising dysfunctional parents to be. I'm 57 years old, I was molested, physically abused and mentally abused and have struggled with drug addiction. I've been clean now for over 20 years but only because I got therapy. I was able to get to the core of why I was using so I agree with you totally on the need for therapy. I really do feel like parenting classes as early as jr. High isn't inappropriate. Give our children the tools to deal with crying babies, deal with being a single parent, teach our children that abuse is not acceptable by anyone in any form. Kids are so much smarter than I was, say at nine or ten. I wasn't caring about looking good for the boys the way they are now. I think parents have a responsibility to teach their children how to be a good parent but first they need to be taught how to be a good parent. I hope I'm making sense.

It is scary that when I went to highschool there were a few kids that'd get heroin from downtown Chicago and kept it pretty hush hush. but these new blue fentanyl pills make heroin look like Tylenol or aspirin and are so small they can hide anywhere. If someone is used to taking vicodin or slightly stronger percocette, they could think the fentanyl pills are oxycodone like the stamp says it is. But from experience 1 blue fent pill is probably about 10 times the strength of a real 30mg oxycodone. So right off the bat people who are getting a new source need to break a pill into 8 pieces no joke, bc you never know. Real oxy is a luxury to come by these days for certain, so if you meet a dealer saying the have opiates, they are 90% likely to have counterfeit fentanyl pills.

He begged me to get him into the Army for a referral (since I just got out) but I told him you don’t detox at boot camp. Eventually, it got to the point where he stopped talking to me because he got so fed up with me keeping it real. It’s like “BRO, you’re a parent. I went through the same crap. But I stopped partying after my son was born.” He never grew up. And when he died, I was so angry that he left his two sons without a biological father. I didn’t cry once at the funeral and memorial. Out of the sadness of all the stories their friendship & to work together to try & help for better melted my heart. To me that shows the wife & her husband weren't bad people & had genuine feelings of sorrow, regret & remorse. The mother showed that she knew her son did have issues, not that he deserved to die but wasn't a mum that looked past her son's issues like other parents do. The mum had forgiveness as she knew her son wasn't perfect & chose a bad path in life before he had time to fix it. It also, in a very sombre way brought two strangers together from opposite sides of the courtroom to form a beautiful friendship to try & do good in this world as two ladies on opposing sides yet came together to be on one side. They're both beautiful & loving, caring & supportive women that both can stand hand in hand to tell their stories from both sides but united as one & if they can save one life then that's worth it

One of the root causes of addiction is lack of emotional intelligence: lack of awareness and management of self and others. Seeking fun outside of us, low self love, seeking validation of a nonsense friend, ... leads this. So heartbreaking. Sorry if I look judgmental.

One of the few documentaries that establishes right off the bat, the huge difference between prescription fentanyl and the illicit fentanyl being produced. Being in the healthcare industry for over 20 years, I know several people with severe chronic pain, who wouldn’t be able to function without prescribed fentanyl transdermal patches, as ingested painkillers were causing them severe digestive issues? In a controlled environment, they’re now able to now maintain a quality of life, that otherwise wasn’t present before using the patch(in which ALL used ones have to be accounted for before refill). Most doctors, politicians and anti prescription drug advocates, tend to blur that line between FDA approved fentanyl, and the Chinese basement manufactured fentanyl, which is what’s killing all these people.

Agreed!

I have read that the rise of “street fentanyl” came about to replace “drug company fentanyl” when the prescriptions were no longer filled. I think I understand that the companies are being sued by some States ? Street sellers and drug companies are all capitalists I suppose. Plus, no shade, but this is a very sympathetic presentation of these families. Very different language and presentation from earlier drug epidemics.

It’s heartbreaking to hear these stories of pain, grief and impotence. As an European it’s hard to fully grasp the horror. Addiction is a global phenomenon but in some places it has shaped into this out of control situation. I can’t believe it’s just a result of overprescription of opioids. There must be something societal that is fundamentally out of order for people to want to anaesthetise their existence.

Normalization of drug use, societal denial of the damage it does... and I think the disconnected infrastructure in US makes in worse. Kids going to college are days travel away from their support network (and common sense). Colleges/universities in US are at this point well known for harmful cultures (frats, hazing, rape, drugs, parties are a requirement...) not to mention how expensive it is to live in some places, which makes it harder to pull yourself out.

I've hurt & felt in places I never knew existed & in ways, that I never even thought possible.. I don't wish this on My worst enemy! I pray for anybody who knows anything about this struggle & how bad it truly is... & I pray that, I myself am able to somehow or another, move forward without this addiction being the main thing that My life consists of.. This is so heart breaking to see and hear. In the past I had some friends that started smoking crack. I didn't know at the time what they were doing but I could see how over time they were changing. As time went on they couldn't hide the fact that they were addicted. At that point I had no problem telling them to stay away from me and don't come to my house for any reason. Years later I saw one of my former friends and he looked like walking death. It's safe to say that he's not with us anymore. He lost everything. I feel that any kind of street drug they are not your friend. Very sad!

I don't care anymore. People think they are experts and smarter than anyone else. So, it's a natural outcome; let it run its course. The parents always act horrified after their child OD and rewrite history. I speak from personal experience with my wacko sister and my nephew who killed himself (sanitized by family as an accidental OD). If any parent reading this really wants to prevent their child killing themselves: Something in your family dynamics was toxic. If by some Miracle your child enters a treatment program..Do not bring him back into your 'mamas boy' environment. Send them to a person outside of your family. Not in your town. Not in your streets. Like it or not it happened on your watch. My nephew got clean after 6 weeks in a facility in Arizona. What did they do? Put him right back in the same house, bedroom, city where he became addicted, did home invasions to buy drugs. Of course he went back to drugs. He never had a chance.
@5thdimension625 Жыл бұрын
This is always a common unfortunate pattern I’ve observed. We’d treat a patient and stabilize them in hospital only to have them return them to their dysfunctional codependent environment. It’s definitely a set up. Part of the problem is it’s a FAMILY problem and parents minimize their role as well as their child’s patterns within the family.

Children, teens, young adults, and grown folk with emotional wounds seek comfort - a listening ear, empathy, love. When they don’t get it, they (we) self-medicate and surround ourselves with other wounded people who understand our pain. Like Keith Stone said, it’s a new world, a new day. My personal drug use as a teen didn’t kill me back in the 80’s. It likely would today. School staff and all families need to stop attacking each other and provide a unified, loving environment for kids to talk out their experiences in this age…they are confused, anxious, depressed - or have close friends who are. This former NC teacher knows how alone they feel and how school communities/families are failing them.

At the 4:00 mark, the lady is describing when police showed-up at her door to announce the death of her daughter and she remarked "he just said it like it was very matter of fact". Meanwhile, I had just been scratching my head about how this mother is describing every parent's worst nightmare with as much emotion as someone would have telling the story of a flat tire, with LITERALLY a smile on her face.

I get what your saying, that could be her way of coping? I know someone like this who has this wall or block

I think it is her natural manner and many do not show the depth of their pain in public esp on TV and videos.

I lost my mom in May of 2021 after a failed knee surgery. She and I were inseparable, absolute best friends. I was only 25 and she was my everything. But due to my anxiety issues, I cope with hard emotions by laughing, smiling and cracking silly jokes, so I was doing all of that at her funeral. It's been almost two years and the only way I can talk to people about what happened without it crushing me in front of them is by laughing while recounting the events.

@@eurekamreum5458 this is a common trait for grief and stressful situations - you are not alone.

Not every person is an over-the-top histrionic sobber. Most people in real life aren't actually like that at all. It's taught by films and television. Most people just have a flattened affect with news like that. At that point, it happened. You can be sad and remember their memory, but ugly crying isn't going to bring them back - nor is it going to change anything about your daily life.
