36hrs without power….I’ve seen houses in the road, had to dodge fallen power lines and trees just to leave my neighborhood… it’s absolutely fucked… God Bless everyone caught in this

My brother lives on the tuckaseegee river ,it's between sylva and cashiers NC. He and his wife lost everything also. I haven't been able to get in touch with them

What's sadder still, is that after the cleanup and restoration of power the attorneys will come out of the muck to file lawsuits against the State or Federal authorities, not to mention private litigation. When I saw the debris and boats up against people's riverfront property I just knew the lawyers will sue everybody in sight.

I live in Franklin, NC, and almost every road is closed in and out 441 was closed to the GA state line, 23 and 28 are closed towards Cherokee. 441 north to Sylva is closed. And there are numerous slide outside of downtown Franklin. Franklin itself is built on top of a hill but there are many along the Cullasaja and Little Tennessee rivers. The Highlands Gorge road is also closed. But that was earlier this morning, I could have changed. Franklin Township has power, but those of on the outskirts have no power and the cell tower to my south has gone down as well. About 10K homes have no power in Macon county. I have a generator that has been running for two days. So I'm fine, just hunkered in my room and praying this ends soon and no one on my community and family are doing fine.

I’ve been through this with several hurricanes including Florence. The next two weeks is the biggest pain. Waiting on power and roads to get back open. No gas, no power, nowhere to go.

Development has consequences. Roads, roof tops, parking lots ,concrete drive ways, housing Developments ,shopping centers all give off large amounts of rain water run off. You better get use to more flooding with a growing population needing all the above.😢

This flooding is way up in the Appalachia mountains. Not a lot of people or infrastructure up there. Eastern North Carolina suffers from all the rain run off in Chapel Hill, Raleigh & Durham. It all goes straight down the Neuse and destroys rural towns.

I am from the Great Pacific Northwest where the wilderness meets the great Pacific ocean, and rivers flood all the time. You have to know how to live it here everyday was an adventure for everyone. The mighty Columbia River was my home, and high water was a normal way of life. If they said flooding you new it was going to flood, and things were going to happen.

@@myronwendell9059 This wasn’t an average flood…it hasn’t flooded like this since 1916 my friend. We broke all records for rain fall and river levels. Alot of businesses and homes here are destroyed. No water and power for most of the city. Water and sewer lines have all busted leaving all water contaminated or inaccessible. This was worst than anyone is living memory has seen. Nothing could have prepared us for this.
