When I was still young one of my Aunts died and I went out to speak with my dad. He was pretty sad and he told me something that always stuck with me. “When you are young life gives you things but if you are lucky enough to live long enough you reach an age where it starts to take things away from you.”

I’m very glad you made this video. I lost my Grandfather when I was 9. Really before I got to the age of doing projects, adventures, etc. The memories I do have of him are so cherished. I’m now turning 23. I’ve got his old F-150, guns, main toolbox, his 3/4 S&K socket set. All of which are not worth much to most people, but priceless to me. I’d sell my 2012 F-250 4x4, which is also my first vehicle before I’d let go of that 2000 F-150 4x2. Wonderful story of your Grandfather. God Bless Cody

It's so cool that you had a man that spoke so much into you as you grew up. Videos like this are what originally hooked me to your channel (into KZbin, for that matter). You are a blessing, Cody. Love, love, love this video. Thanks for sharing this, Cody. My grandfather passed shortly before my first child was born. When my son came into the world I was so happy but sad at the same time because Grandpa never got to meet him. My grandmother would live on to 100 years of age and got to meet all of my children and I can't thank god enough for allowing that to happen.

This story reminds me of my grandpa. He lost his leg in WWII and then went on to start a church with my grandma. They pastored for 43 years before he went to his reward in 2005, she passed in early 2015. I miss them terribly, but I so look forward to seeing them again on the other side of glory. And to walk those streets with my grandpa and his two legs. Thank you Cody for being so open and real. And for the memory

Thank you for sharing that. I grew up with my maternal grandfather spending a month or two every year with us. Him and my grandmother lived in Wisconsin and we live in Florida but my father built a mother-in-law addition on to our house so they had their own space: bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. He loved to fish and kept a boat at our house(I grew up on the Estero river) He and my mother loved the water. He taught me how to fish, how to navigate the river, all about tides and oyster shoals and how storms can change the high and low spots in a river. We used to watch Jeopardy every night together. No matter what we were doing even if it was watching TV he was always teaching me something. Thank you for showing the tears, it's I feel sometimes the only physical reminder of him I have left, those tears, when something reminds me so strongly of him and my grandmother. God bless from Florida the last bastion of freedom.

It never ceases to amaze me how much Grandfathers impact the lives of their Grandsons. My paternal Grandpa and I were very close, I'd venture to say that he was my best friend and we spent a lot of time together just doing anything and everything. It's truly a blessing to have a Grandfather who makes it a point to be present in your life as a young man and I too count myself fortunate to have been a benefactor of such kindness.

Wow. I have an amazing relationship with my father, hunting, fieldsports he always took my to building sites when I was on school holidays, he also bought me a shotgun when I was 13 years old.and taught me the art of falconry until I was 16 when he bought me a harris hawk, I look up to him so much and think sometimes when im telling stories that I haven't got many memories without him in them. I just don't think it's possible to be as good as he is. A real hardworking father that spent all his spare hours teaching me all his skills and life lessons. The ending to this made me choke up emotional. I'm dreading the day I don't have a dad to call for advice. Much love from England.

I shed a tear with you. I was in my early 20s when I lost my grandpa. I was right there with him growing up on his little farm but when I hit late teens and early twenties I didn't have time for him. I'm glad you got a little time with him to meet jack. I miss him and I'm crying with you. Tears of joy and sorrow. They were great men and they don't make them like that anymore. All we can do is try to be half the men they were.

I always love hearing you talking about your grandfather. Lost one of mine a few years ago and the other this past winter. I hope we both get to meet them again some day. Thank you for the cleansing tears this video brought.

This is honestly why I'm afraid to spend more time with my grandparents these days. It makes it more terrifying knowing how close they are to being gone. I guess I think by distancing myself and spending more time absorbed in work it won't hurt as much. Probably just going to make it worse

What a great story! Brought back memories of my own and I’m not ashamed to say I did in fact cry at the end of this video. I took for granted that he was always around, life got busy, didn’t get to see him much, next thing you know you get a phone call that he’s passed away. Great 👍 hunting story too!!!

Thank you so much for the story of hunting with your grandfather. You brought back memories of my grandpa and hunting on the Olympic peninsula when I was a boy.

Mr. Cody, I lost my grandad back in 2016 i was 16 years old. I still get choked up bout it. The bloody deal of it too is he was my giving tree. I couldn’t have put it any better and I’m grateful to you for this KZbin video comparing the two. The funny thing bout it is that growing up a ranch kid working along side my grandad he and I got in some sticky situations akin to the one you shared in the video. In a way it’s reassuring to know that I’m not the only one who has ever felt this way about one of the key people in their life. I’m sure there’s millions more who’ve had worse situations than you and I combined but this video was a good reminder of that for me and I’m sure many others. I’ll keep you and anyone else who’s had any lose such as this in my prayers. God bless you and thank you for having the talent and willingness to eloquently share your stories of him. I envy you in the best of ways for that so thank you for doing it for us who wish we could.

Beautiful! You got me crying with you! Thanks for everything you do and sharing this! Your words really resonate with me I'm 28 years old and can honestly say I've never looked up to a man I didn't know but that's the thing I think I do know you and that's to your credit because you are so honest with your viewers and that's why we love! You make your grandfather proud every single day and of that I'm sure!
