absolutely feel you on the comfort romance reads. for me, it's either that or a super fast-paced thriller that i know will completely distract me. love your wrap ups as always!

Thank you, next - great habit! Different genres are for different moods, its much easier if you are an avid diverse reader already so embrace what you can read and put off what's not working for later.

I'm so sorry for your loss. When I'm going through a hard time I tend to (re)read fanfiction (specifically from the fandom that must not be named) bc I find it to be particularly lightweight reading. Not necessarily lighthearted since a lot of my favorite fics are emphasis-on-the-hurt hurt/comfort, but I think a combination of how sparse fanfiction writing is, my familiarity with the source material and the fics themselves, while still being highly entertaining makes for very easy reading. I haven't read tons of romance but I imagine it's quite similar, and the predictable nature of both romance and fanfic probably makes it appealing in tough times. You're not going to get blindsided like you would irl I haven't been able to read the Graveyard Apartment yet so unfortunately I'll miss tomorrow's livestream but I'm sure it will be great. I'll have to watch it back whenever I do manage to read the Graveyard Apartment

It would work especially well as newsletter bonus content for an author. Patrick Sénécal is doing something a bit like this (less horror, more melodrama I think).
