Man I was monkeying around duct and pipe today! Hospital renovations are ALWAYS fun. I was in the grid all week last week. Had to cut out a wall to be able to stand and get 90”s onto 3” 2”and 1” Domestic water lines.

Lmao...yep...hospital reno's BLOW... We have an in with a local hospital and they throw us all there work... Job security is good but snaking a 12' ladder through the grid and crawling on VAV boxes is not! Keep up the good fight!

Guess this is a trade where being small might be an advantage as opposed to a hinderance. Keep getting told the trades will be difficult for me being small but this looks like it might be a good fit.

I've been waiting for a moment to expand on this...absolutely our trade favors smaller people... if it's a renovation especially... on new construction, it could be weeks/months between mechanical install and the inspections that let us begin our scope...in that time it's a regular thing for other trades to do their work and limit our access

I can’t really think of a trade that not being fat doesn’t help 🤷🏽♂️

Is it mandatory to go to apprenticeship? Or can I just slide in with an company? Seems like the work can’t be that hard. I have laborer experience

This video represents a very small portion of what we do...the metal work alone we do takes years to master

Used to be in IT over 10 years started as a labourer in construction few years ago and got into this not much after. No no education needed if your job is to wrap and get a vapour seal. But my work looks like an earth quake shook only the pipes next to this guys work, im still learning and always come back here to watch for tips

It takes no time to master. It’s a simple job that takes minimal skill. Anyone can master this joke of a trade in a few months.

@@joshmiller8528 5 years in and I still haven’t learned all of the complexities of mechanical insulation. You’re right, a monkey can wrap a duct. My 5 year old can wrap pipe. It takes a skilled individual to be considered a mechanic. Come to work with me tomorrow kid I’ll show you some craftsmanship. Unequal mono tees in rubber and pvc.

Why? Fiberglass particles are too big to accumulate in the lungs... Plus I'm 13 feet above the floor...i could barely get in that space so a hard hat was unnecessary, no noise so ear plugs weren't necessary either... And working on my belly in a well lit space with the material below me, eye wear was also not needed... The only thing I needed was gloves
