Dang, that color turned out amazing. I think you’re right about the satin rising sun vs the gloss. The gloss shows more defects and is harder to maintain than satin. Great job bro!

Could you make a comparison video between the TPC38 and the IS38 please? I’m interested to know the difference in acceleration, turbo lag and turbo threshold, daily driving characteristics, etc. I’ve been IS38 for over 4 years. Love it. Currently customer tuned 91oct WMI. I’ve thought about the TPC38 as a future upgrade, but haven’t heard much from anyone about it.

For those curious about the difference from IS38 to TPC38, from Chat-GPT 🫡: The **IS38** and the **TPC38** turbos are popular upgrades in the performance tuning scene, particularly for Volkswagen and Audi platforms (e.g., Mk7 Golf R, Audi S3). Here’s how they differ in performance: ### **IS38 Turbo** - **Stock Performance**: The IS38 is the OEM turbo for higher-performance models like the Golf R and Audi S3. It's known for good power delivery and reliability. - **Power Output**: With tuning, the IS38 typically supports power levels in the range of **380-400 hp** on pump gas and can exceed this with additional upgrades (like fueling and intercooler). - **Turbo Lag**: Since it’s a stock turbo, the IS38 provides quick spool, maintaining strong low-end torque, making it excellent for street driving. - **Reliability**: It's proven in daily driving and moderate track use without significant reliability concerns, as it’s an OEM product. - **Cost**: More affordable than aftermarket options, making it a popular upgrade. ### **TPC38 Turbo** - **Aftermarket Performance**: The TPC38 is an aftermarket turbo designed for enthusiasts seeking more power than the IS38 can deliver. - **Power Output**: It can push beyond the capabilities of the IS38, often supporting **420-500+ hp** with proper supporting mods (upgraded fueling, intercooler, downpipe, and tuning). - **Turbo Lag**: The TPC38 typically has slightly more turbo lag than the IS38 due to its larger size, but it still offers a good balance between spool time and top-end power. It sacrifices some low-end torque for higher peak performance. - **Reliability**: As a more aggressive upgrade, reliability depends heavily on the supporting modifications and maintenance. Running it at higher boost levels can put more strain on the engine. - **Cost**: It’s more expensive than the IS38 due to its aftermarket design and higher performance potential. ### Summary - The **IS38** offers a balance of quick spool, reliability, and moderate power (up to 400 hp), making it suitable for daily drivers. - The **TPC38** focuses on higher power (up to 500 hp or more), but at the cost of increased turbo lag and requiring more supporting mods. If you are looking for higher peak performance and can support the necessary mods, the TPC38 is the better option. However, for a reliable, fast-spooling street setup, the IS38 is hard to beat.
