I once received a package from Uzbekistan that came inside a linen casing which was sewn shut around the bundle. My address had been written on the linen carefully and beautifully in waterproof black ink and the whole package was secured with strong hemp cord and A WAX SEAL!!! NEVER HAVE I FELT MORE SPECIAL than the moment I broke that wax seal! It was so exotic and ancient an experience I felt transported back in time by centuries. I had ordered something mundane from eBay and this is how it was sent to me! Glorious!!!

For your viewers - just don't try sending those packages with string through the mail! These days the packages will get caught in modern machinery. I like to leave the seal in the wax until the wax is completely cooled to get a good impression, love the extra drops! I'm gonna try that - also don't send wax seals through the mail, they will break, put the letter in a padded envelope and write 'hand stamp only' and hope for the best! Best wishes Rajiv!

I'm binge watching your videos because I am having a sad day. All of your videos are so pleasing to watch. So far I've learned how to arrange flowers. I think silk flowers could be used if fresh aren't available. I learned to bring wet wipes when scrounging antiques. The most satisfying element of this video is the sound of the sharp scissors when cutting ribbon. I'm a geek that way. I think I would use sealing wax on the folds of a large present. Are you using new stamps or old? They looked new. Old used stamps are cheap and would be perfect for gift packages. Now, which video is next? I love your soul...it's a beautiful place to be...

Even when you are using tape, I think your tip of crisply creasing the edges is key in present wrapping! It not only makes it easier to wrap (the paper hugs the object just like you said) but those creased edges will make even the most weirdly shaped presents look neat and tidy, and will make a regular shaped box look positively professional. I think it's my favorite wrapping secret!

I was taught how to do embossing when I was a teen (now 40) and something about back then. Everyone I was surrounded by had some kind of arts and crafts hobby going on. But anyways we used to emboss beautiful stamps with gorgeous metallic fine powder on that same kind of brown paper. And it just lit up our presents. I still have my collection of stamps from back when I was obsessed with owning ever color powder and stamp. Taught my daughters how to do it when they were in their preteen years. I need to bring them out again this year a do that again. A nice little nod to our past 🎁

I had a brown paper roll and cutter and the paper lasted for years. Sadly the cutter is no more - moving country a few times meant it went ... somewhere. But now I use the brown paper from the grocery store bags, and I tie up with string. They look lovely under my wooden Christmas tree, waiting to be given. So much nicer than commercial Christmas paper, which usually can't be recycled because there is a plastic coating on it to make it shiny.

When I was an art major, I had a mantra of "show the process." I used this in every piece I created. I also became enamored with utilitarian basics; craft paper, cardboard & welding! I took printer paper boxes out of the trash, covered them in craft paper and printed labels on the computer. I used to to house all of my art & craft supplies, of which I had MANY! They stacked the boxes in closets and on shelves. NOW, I could find anything easily, as well as getting rid of a large volume of clutter.

God I wish we knew each other in real life. I love homemade gifts and well thought out wrapping. I have mentioned to my family so many times about doing handmade gifts and they absolutely refuse to get on board and they really feel if they are going to spend money on me that I should spend it in them so they won’t even accept a handmade gift if it isn’t accompanied by a gift I paid for, it’s so upsetting. These packages are stunning. I would have a hard time throwing out such beautiful wrappings. I save everything to reuse next year.

Nooo, I just finished wrapping some gifts with tape when you uploaded this! There's still a few to do and I will certainly be taking notes. I loved the paper package with the pretty ribbon and stamps! What is the brand of sealing wax please? Also, I would love some soap and candle making content in the future too, I'm so fascinated by all that you craft! x

What a wonderful segment. Not only am I inspired to use wax and a seal, I learned some history, too. Your mention of seals on a document regarding Henry the VIII, sent me to take a gander at the Vatican's archive. Also, your antique seal with ostrich feathers, prompted me to investigate its symbolism to royalty. Thanks for exposing me to new ideas.

What you have going on here, Mr. Surenda, is the highest level of appreciation for LIVING... meaning you see beauty in simplicity and (me too...I used to make soap 20 years ago) enjoy every step of the process, relish the sensations... it's actually very Zen and Taoist thinking. Fine job, ...rock on, because you have mastered what it is all about.

I love how you make everyday things and "task" a pleasant experience. I try to do that in my life as well. So this was a very enjoyable video for me to watch. Now I want a variety of twine and vintage paper roll. 😉

i was so excited when i first found this channel. but now i find him annoyingly insufferably perfect and wholesome to the point it’s inhuman, and can’t stand to watch a single minute of him. now is this cuz i hate myself when compared to him? sure, but lots of people hate themselves and he is utterly not relatable to us, and i believe there is a hard cap to this channel’s success

I love hearing you talk about the history and background and meaning of everything you use. The stories of the things that have meaning to you (the candles) are a beautiful way of sharing his memory with others. Also, hearing you wrap the presents is such a calming and pleasant experience. Even though we as your listeners arent able to touch or unwrap your gifts ourselves, it is a very enjoyable sensory experience for us through the screens and makes us feel a part of it. Your channel is such a pleasure to watch. I hope that making these videos brings you as much enjoyment as we get from watching them.

Rajiv: I marvel at - & thoroughly envy - your capacity to be wholly & unapologetically, your true, creative & fabulous self 🎀 I learned that I needed to negate the 'non-mainstream' aspects of myself decades ago - so watching your 'not-so-mainstream' content is both glorious, & therapeutic. Thank you 🥰

Thanks Rajiv, I alternate between brown paper with white ribbon and white paper with brown twine. I did have a year when I got a great deal on black chalkboard paper and used red ribbon. Great video, thanks and Happy Holidays!!!

Rajiv, this video is so beautiful. I remember when I was little; if we went to a bakeshop, they would tie up our white box of pastries with white string. They would go round and round the box several times before stopping, crossing the strings and tying a knot. I miss those times. But watching your channel brings them all back. Merry Christmas to you.
