Thank you! We have limited weather windows so when we get any opportunity we really try to abuse it!

Definitely agree about the steerable rear axle. We used to run the Claas Quadrant baler and that had the same thing, made it soooo much easier to turn and get in and out of the tight barn and yard area

It makes a HUGE difference. It doesn't scuff the fields either

Any possibility of showing how each piece of equipment works. It’s not always intuitive. As a non farmer I am amazed at how much work you guys do. I really appreciate these videos

Rob, I’m glad you asked! It’s kinda funny. In 2022 we neither round baled nor wrapped a single strand of hay, but we are dropping another video today at 2 of a few different machines and I did my best to get up close and personal with the workings of the equipment. Thank you for the support

You need a gauge to measure humidity in the soi. A stick 5 feet deep in the ground. Then when you water, you need to cover that field with a few inches of water. Minus rain.

We don’t irrigate here
@sinhnguyen48153 жыл бұрын
@@FarmingInsider yeah but try that for some nice hay for your cows. Do you know how much people pay for animal beddings? A lot.
@FarmingInsider3 жыл бұрын
@@sinhnguyen4815 we tend to get a significantly higher pay out for quality feed than bedding and it’s about the same process to make
@sinhnguyen48153 жыл бұрын
@@FarmingInsider Usually, people use woodchips or wood pellets for horse or chicken beddings for example. They're considered biomass, you know. But anyways, I look at the way people raise or treat their animals and I know a lot can be improved. High quality feed is definitely not provided in most places. In very specialized places, maybe, but not in commercial production. That's one of the reasons why we have so many fears going on in the meat industry. Just one of the reasons. But who's willing to invest? Mostly likely educated people, enthusiasts hopefully. I say it's a smart thing to do, a single direction, to evolve, and we have to learn so the industry can evolve.

Grass is like a clump of mushrooms. They clump together to create a micro-environment with humidity below. People use wood chips to help with humidity and well, I guess, heat from the sun. Wood is good insulator and roots can be sensitive.

That Kuhn wrapper looks cool but I think the McHale 998 is a much better bit of kit simply because you can process multiple bales at once. Basically you can have one going off the back while the next one is starting to be wrapped and another bale loading up the ramp
@FarmingInsider3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're definitely able to hammer down with it. Can it wrap squares and rounds?
@Nick-B783 жыл бұрын
@@FarmingInsider I never wrapped rounds personally but yes as far as I know the McHale can do they all. And yeah, you really can bash out the bales pretty quicky

If you had to buy a wrapper again would you get the 4014 or would you try a Mchale 998HS? Any regrets?
@FarmingInsider3 жыл бұрын
My only regret is not having a bigger tractor available to hook it up to. It would be a lot nicer with some more stability and the ability to adjust the 3 pt arm on the fly. In order to get the hydraulic flow i need for the Massey I had it on, I need to toggle the 3pt arm “off” to push that flow into the the 1st hydraulic. I have no complaints about the wrapper except that Kuhn has been telling me for a year they can get the settings in the standard System but it’s still in metric

The field looks unusual, or the yield looks unsually low. It must be a special field.

It’s a very old field surrounded by woods. Not an especially high yielding piece for sure

Great content but your hand held camera work needs improvement. Suggest you enable video stabilization & try to move the camera in a single plane. The shaky jumping video distracts from your otherwise excellent content.
