i am not wise enough or smart enough to articulate this properly, but i am having trouble understanding how what the dear pastor has explained here (44 or 45 minutes in or so) is different than the "standard" double predestination teaching that some other Christians have struggled with since the beginning? It seems like the best answer is and always has been, that God CAN and WILL do what he wants to do at all times. And it is our job not to question but to obey His voice as we understand His will in revealed scripture? let me make it clear that i do not disagree with anything that i have heard preached here. I only struggle with the pragmatic application of the endless debate over the issue. Once we go past the scriptures such as Hebrews 3:15 "Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion" etc. and start aligning ourselves into Calvinist and Arminian camps, and start disputing what God has done outside of time-space in the eternal realm where only He IS (as if we could understand Divine decrees in eternity, or the decision making process of God?) then we do ourselves a disservice. I am not saying that the pastor has done this, his explanation is certainly Scriptural. He has rightly pointed out that all we NEED to know is found in God's special revelation on the matter. I am saying that I can't see how this particular explanation of this particular thorny topic, sounds different to me than the "classic" double predestination argument, and I question whether the issue can ever be further elucidated or any more clarity to the topic can be brought in. I confessed before that I probably have not articulated this properly, but does anyone else feel like some of the greatest minds in the History of Christianity have argued this "sovereignty of God and free will of man" issue ad nauseum? Has it ever helped bring anyone into the kingdom, or made anyone more Christlike in their walk? Perhaps it has, and I'm just missing something. Having said that, I want to say that I think this exposition of Romans is fabulous and I think that Pastor Baucham is a very compelling preacher. Looking forward to hearing the rest of it!

Hi, I have a question: In this sermon Dr. Baucham says that some people must face Gods wrath in order for God to sorrowfully manifest His justice 35:55; yet Dr. Baucham also says that Jesus satisfies the wrath of God 48:47…If Jesus satisfies the wrath of God, then why must some people face His wrath in hell? Why doesnt God draw all men to Him as He does the elect since Jesus’s death satisfies Gods wrath? Thank you for sharing these sermons, I would greatly appreciate a response.

Dr Baucham - I read that you accept TULIP as doctrine. I wanted to ask why you preach if you believe that God has chosen everyone in advance? Are you not effectively preaching to the pre-converted? I understand the idea of God making the decision before creation though were Abram, Job, David, and Abel all running from God in unrighteousness? There were not sinless though that is not the same thing. If there is nothing a man can do then there is no choice, so why do anything? If there is nothing a man can do why are there crowns awarded in heaven? Jesus said we must be born again and die to self, in doing so attribute everything to Christ alone. God will honour your decision to accept or reject grace, though it is your decision - if were God's then there could be no justice in the world.

CHAPTER 9; OF FREE WILL Paragraph 1. God has endued the will of man with that natural liberty and power of acting upon choice, that it is neither forced, nor by any necessity of nature determined to do good or evil.1 1 Matt. 17:12; James 1:14; Deut. 30:19 Paragraph 2. Man, in his state of innocency, had freedom and power to will and to do that which was good and well-pleasing to God,2 but yet was unstable, so that he might fall from it.3 2 Eccles. 7:29 3 Gen. 3:6 Paragraph 3. Man, by his fall into a state of sin, has wholly lost all ability of will to any spiritual good accompanying salvation;4 so as a natural man, being altogether averse from that good, and dead in sin,5 is not able by his own strength to convert himself, or to prepare himself thereunto.6 4 Rom. 5:6, 8:7 5 Eph. 2:1,5 6 Titus 3:3-5; John 6:44 Paragraph 4. When God converts a sinner, and translates him into the state of grace, He frees him from his natural bondage under sin,7 and by His grace alone enables him freely to will and to do that which is spiritually good;8 yet so as that by reason of his remaining corruptions, he does not perfectly, nor only will, that which is good, but does also will that which is evil.9 7 Col. 1:13; John 8:36 8 Phil. 2:13 9 Rom. 7:15,18,19,21,23 Paragraph 5. This will of man is made perfectly and immutably free to good alone in the state of glory only.10 10 Eph. 4:13 London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689, n.d.

So by your own comment we are to believe that you are allowed your own indignations but the creator of all things is not? God's wrath is holy, our wrath is not. Ergo, vengeance belongs to Him.
@ScrunchyTacos

@@DISP-CEPTED I just look at passages like exodus 22 and realize if the god written about in the bible is real, we all are doomed. Wrath is a natural human emotion for us, like any other it's a tool. You can do bad and good with it. These emotions are all in your brain, a human brain. If there is a god out there why would he have human emotions like wrath?
@DISP-CEPTED
@DISP-CEPTED Жыл бұрын
@@ScrunchyTacos I get it. It really is tough for the world to understand. On that note we have to understand that the very wrath God is saving us from is His own. How? The perfect sacrifice in His son, otherwise who could say He is a just God? That is really it. They very same God who hates any and all sin also forgives any and all sin. The just for the unjust. The righteous for the unrighteous. Romans tells us that the wages of sin is death. That wage has been paid. Be a believer is not about sinless perfection, it’s about forgiveness. I wouldn’t have paid that price, especially for me. He calls us to live a grace driven repentant life. If you have doubt, David committed adultery and murder yet he was a man after Gods own heart. In the end, we are without excuse I pray you are blessed with wisdom to see the truth of the gospel. Repent and believe. That’s it. God bless
