Wrath of the Machine in 2024 - The Greatest Raid In Destiny History

It's bittersweet watching this vid; some of the finest memories of my youth were the Friday nights running all four raids back to back with the mates- finishing with good ol' Wrath. Be it 6 man, 5 man, 4 man, 3 man, 2 man (or attempted solo runs), Wrath of The Machine was a fucking blast and is a fine work both stylistically and in a mechanical sense. While I don't play Destiny anymore, I would like to see myself returning in a long, long time- but until then, I'll always treasure the (perhaps rose-tinted) memories of Destiny 1 and the magnificent piece of art that was this part of my life.

I was 26 when this raid was out. Seeing you guys play this again reminds me of the times me and my friends playing Halo at your age. Cherish these moments, boys. Plenty of time to keep doing what youre doing.

⁠@@tMParagonright, they can certainly justify siva being brought back. For example, siva was a golden age building nanobot before it was out of control in rise of iron. I definitely see Maya Sundaresh using siva to combine vex and exos together.

Man, as someone who was a kid when destiny 1 came out, I wish so badly I could go back and play these awesome parts of destiny history, but even if I had the money for all the d1 dlc, I just don't know 5 other people with a Playstation willing to go back to d1.

loved this raid mainly because the bosses did not look like reskins of shit we already fought in the game. Also the mechanics were easy to understand not overly complicated verity bullshit.

My loadout was so good. Trials scout with explosive one shotting shanks. 1k yard stare with sleeper stimulant. Light beyond nemisis with raid gear making tons of orbs, nova bombing everything

I miss these days when we didnt have cheap builds that broke the foundation of the game. The system we have in d2 has killed our game and made bosses huge bullet sponges and bungies answer was to lock all boss battles behind boring extensive tedious mechanics.

I agree. In D1 we had abilities but we could not spam them for ridiculous damage. Now D2 suffers from power creep. So many complicated builds that don't require good gunplay any more. And when you use your guns you usually stick to crowd control guns. A lot of mechanics are now designed around this fact. You usually have to flush your screen with explosions and abilities. Gunplay is secondary.

@@Rjptz salvations has 1 encounter that is top 10 (verity). Last wish has 2 encounters that are top 10 (Vault/Riven). Kings hall has 2 top 10 encounters (golgaroth/Oryx). Vow has 1 top 10. (Rhulk) Deep stone has no top 10. Wrath has 4 top 15 encounters, including number 1

"best raid" Tldr; stop glazing D1. Vow is the best raid. Period. Rhulk was such an overwhelming success that they turned him into a regular enemy unit. Vow drops the heaviest lore we've gotten for this series since the Books of Sorrow with Shattered Suns and the weapons from that raid are still sought after to this day. In Wrath, you defeat Aksis. Thats literally it. The reason Bungie never brought it back is because it quite literally is the most irrelevant of all the Raids in their catalogue. I also am of the belief D2 just does everything better today than D1 ever did, so going back to 30FPS and that super slow movement feels disgusting. Do not even make me compare this to Salvation's Edge.

@@DioStandProud I’m going to glaze until the day I die vow is a great raid, I’d say it’s the second best. it has 2 top 12 raid encounters. But Wrath of the machine has juice that vow couldn’t even begin to drink. Every encounter is top 15 it’s literally built different
