In 2002, PS1 games were slowly being phased out. Sony had both the WRC and F1 license at the time, so they probably wanted to make the most out of it. Aside from WRC Arcade, they also released Formula One Arcade for the PS1 that same year.

The first three games on the PS3 were absolutely terrible. So glad they improved into WRC 9 and 10 now.

Actually, those first PS3 games wasnt actually that bad. I think most of the new WRC titles are horrible compared to Dirt Rally. They are badly optimized, have weird controls and are bugged as hell. For me the best ones were from PS2 era, especially WRC4 and WRC Rally Evolved.

@@hivonzoooPL Playstation2 WRC 1-5 are still the best rally games, next to "Richard Burns Rally" on ps2/pc and "Mobil1 Rally" on pc! best rally experience in those 7 games!
