Problem is there is no official training or certification required to operate a tow truck in the USA. Anyone with money can buy one of any size, even as large as a 50 ton rotator, start a company and attempt jobs like the one in this video with little to no experience. Even the guys who have been doing it for a long time got most of their training "on the job", which isn't always the right way or safe way.

I've been in the towing business for 20 years. At the time if the video I was working for the cement company. Tanker driver fail and the 2 yellow wreckers didn't have a clue what they were doing. The first 2 were Called out by state police. After 2.5 hours of them trying I called a buddy of mine to come out and he took care of it within 30 mins. First 2 trucks were not actual recovery trucks the last one is.

Repo Productions a 25 or 30 ton isn’t a recovery unit? Yeah ok not the correct trucks for that particular job no but definitely cape able of recovery within the limits of the machine just like anything else, even the new 100 ton tater has it’s limits

@@BAMCIS13450703 They had the right trucks on scene, just didn’t rig correctly.

Lol I figured it was the company who had the contract for the state highway. Had a situation where an 80,000 pound front end loader was overturned on a steep embankment. The tow truck company with the state contract in our area is particularly sleezy and unprofessional. They tried and tried and traffic was backed up for 8 hours. Finally we got the call by the owner of the loader and instead of using wreckers used my buddys cat 330 excavator on one side and wrecker on the road side pulling. And you fucking know the company that couldn’t get it broke into our yard and threw clear plastic wrap in every fuel tank in the middle of the night because they were pissed we got it. The state police didn’t even want to let us out there but we’re forced to because it gridlocked 30 miles.

Should've had one pulling low on tire side and one lifting top side of tank atleast.

Steve S Bags would not do very well. The sides are round and they would easily slide out. But they could use a rotator.

Pick and roll It’s called that because one truck picks up the weight as another rolls the rig upright. “ California pick and roll” I believe it’s called They could of done that with out even taking up the whole road like they did That’s all my experience as a, keyboard tow trucker, speaking lol

Wow. First clue that they were clueless: they put the straps on the outside of the railings on top of the tank, potentially cutting them - and definitely bending the crap out of the railings - during lifting.

Regardless how you attack this, you should know that you MUST at least have a two-part line on this loaded trailer. The one that broke was a single line. Too hard to tell if it was the cable itself or the rigging, but these pneumatic trailers are hard to hook to without cutting straps or damaging the trailer. I highly suggest a "bones kit" from Bailey's Towing Accessories.
@richardemert76757 жыл бұрын
actually the line that broke free was doubled useing a snatch block.
@joepearce37687 жыл бұрын
Ok. I didn't think so, but maybe it was. With that said, it must have been some small cable on that winch anyway or a chain not rated for that load/recovery work. That is what operators have to watch out for. A hit from that backlash will end a person's career, as well as his life.

Two trucks, plenty of room why not just reverse roll it, seems like the angle of attack is super severe causing way more stress than needed.

I dont work towing , i just advertise tow companies but just watching that Am I Wrong to assume the way he is doing it all it really would do its dragon? doesn't he needed to be lifting it as he pulls cuz it looks like he is just pulling it which is going to drag it. if I'm wrong I'm wrong but that appears to be just the way gravity works there

Someone has managed to turn over an 18 wheeler and the tow truck driver is the one who failed ?
@chiefearnest14502 ай бұрын
The accident has already occurred and is not relevant to the video. It’s a wrecker fail because that tow truck couldn’t handle the weight of the load is was trying to lift
@andrewwilson83177 жыл бұрын
No a great example of the craft. Poor judgement on operators part. Lifting rather than friction rolling would of saved a lot of stress on the rig and lessen any damage. To have two trucks and be popping straps is no good!
