I dove this wreck during a visit in 1977. the object at 8:22-28 was the nose turret, and that is a 20mm. cannon sticking out. When I was there the main powered top turret was there, complete with it's 30.mm cannon, which i did not see in your video. perhaps it no longer exists. The locals back then told me that the Emily was taxiing out for take off when it struck a mine, blowing it apart. At least that was the local lore. My uncle was on Saipan in the Sea Bees during the war, so it held a special interest for me. Amazing how much it had built up in 40 years.

amazing video as ususul.. =) 8:03 is that sea cucumbers? read on the news here in sweden they was diving at a well known old wreck about 65 meters down (with tanks) and saw some fins stick out.. from a diver went missing 20 years ago.. wow.. my wors fear when diving to find something like that.. eerie ..but good for the family though to get to know what really happened.. but 20 years .. wow..

Great pictures, super infos now, love the professional touch bt. your concept. Just the drone camera sometimes moves not so smooth, but this is a high level criticism :)
@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
Well your right. That was the first time using the drone. When your flying close by and with no wind its easier to get the smooth shots. However the drone is quite a few kilometers away, and the wind speed is high. In this situation is becomes really hard to get the drone to behave well - as there is a delay in the signal, and a delay in the video feed - and the drone behaves different in the strong wind... I will keep practicing though!

When you film with your gopro, do you use "Wide" view or "medium"? Im also filming myself freediving down to about 12-16 meters and i would like to know what mode you use. Your videos are amazing and very calming to look at! Great work and keep it up! 😃
@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
wide. When you camera is underwater youe FOV will be reduced by 33%, so you need to start out with the widest FOV possible. If you want to more 'macro' style, detailed close up shot, then you can try medium or even narrow. But for action shots, where you want a nice first perosn view, or 3rd perosn with the diver in the shot - you will always want to choose WIDE.
@casualfreediving87808 жыл бұрын
+Freediver HD okay, that was what i thought because my vids on medium dident look very good in 3:rd person. Thank you and keep up doing your amazing videos!

What is a Korean monument doing there?
@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
Good question.... I also thought the monument was out of place - I think the reason is Korea was a Japanese colony at the time - and korean troops were conscripted and forced to fight for Japan - so there are a few korean monuments scattered around Saipan island. But i really really doubt Koreans would serve as Japanese air crew, so i doubt koreans died here.. yet there is a monument?

Why do free diverse use really long fins?🤔
@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
efficiency. They offer more trust for oxygen/effort used. Scuba divers dont care about that, they prefer more compact fins, so they dont kick the corals, etc, and they dont need more as fast or effortlessly as freedivers..

Are you negative? You're not using any weight belt and that hoodie must increase the buoyancy but you can dive easily and keep underwater without struggle.
@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
I'm still floating up at this depth ( 11m ) I need to get below 16-17m before I would be negatively buoyant.
@FreediveRN8 жыл бұрын
You can exhale a little amount of air for shallow dives to be negative. just be cautious with it and only do it when your body is ready for it (trained).

@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
Relax before you dive, you should not be swimming around already exhausted before you go down. Reduce all movement during the dive, reduce all kicking to a minimum. Don't wave your arms around, chillout.
@birdbraINCorporated8 жыл бұрын
sweet, k ill try it man... howd you know I was swimming around beforehand? Also, you and others must just be that radical to be able to go way down like you do and kick around for a couple minutes? how long you been freediving?
@freediverhd8 жыл бұрын
Keyus Itllpannus I started Feb 2012. Sometimes I am kicking a lot on camera, but normally the dive is shorter. If I am not using the gopro, I will go down and be very very still, and dive time on average 1:30-2:00. I am in using gopro dive time more like 1:00-1:20.
