instead of constantly referencing the tape measure, you can use a block, place on top of your set cabinet and mark where the laser line hits it, you can even make a line the same thickness as the laser line. then use this as a reference to set the rest of the cabinets.

Great work. Must say I have never needed to pack up a leg on a dishwasher with wren and we always set our cupboards at atleast 160. I wasn't sure why you needed too. Also just a tip, with units that are going up against the wall instead of putting a panel on the side then a filler its better to fit a filler flush with doors and a backing piece on to mount to the unit itself. Loses a unnecessary joint.

I really enjoyed watching how this is done. We recently had our Wren kitchen installed by fitters working on behalf of Wren. The fitters had done a good job fitting the kitchen, but when it comes to the finer details, such as end panel and door alignment and leveling window sills to the correct level (both left to right and window to room), they got that wrong (even those they are custom made slate sills). With me actually having OCD, I'd spot all these mistakes as soon as I walked in from work. I feel I should not have to remind a tradesperson on how to do their job, but this seemed to be the case! Hence, one got of them got the nickname 'Bodge-Job Geoff.' I wish we had someone like yourselves to fit ours. it's nice to see how it goes together.

Another top video mate. We now pocket hole rail's across the top of all our integrated washing machines and dishwashers. This lowers the appliance makeing the legs long enough. This also stops you needing to notch the plinth to allow the door to open. Top job of the filler between the 2 cabs . Also nice work around on the undermount sink supports. I normally go with a bit of lightning rail screwd to the back bracket. Only happens with the Blanco sink's with them stupid overflows. I also mentioned last week about how close the wall units will b to the hob. This will b ok on induction hob but definitely not on gas or halogen . Cant wait to see it all done mate i take it from a full time fitter your doing a top job with the hand you've been dealt. Top channel and top content 🤙👍🤙👍🤙👍🤙👍🤙

Hi Rich, glad to see the kitchen is finally taking some form of shape now, even with all the problems you've had. As regards to them instructions and template for the dishwasher door I always thought it would be a great help if they put some writing on each stage, but I suppose that would be to easy. One tip I used to use to ensure the bottom clips that fix to the back off the door and secure it was to get the measurements from the template but use a scrap piece of timber and mark the tops of the doors either side. i take the measurements from this and transfer them to the door, this avoided trying to drill holes 1 or 2mm higher or lower. Good luck finishing the kitchen, I'll keeping watching. 👍👍

That sounds good. Another person has just commented that they drop their dish washer and pocket screw a rail above it to combat the need for a packer under the legs so I may look at that next time. 👍🏻

Nice work there! Can't quite tell if there'd be enough room for the sink unit rails to sit just under the sink lip - so you could wind the sink up tight to the worktop? Looked like the overflows might be in the way though. Just a thought. Excellent videos and work 👏
@Mr_A_Builders

Hi Rich. It’s the overflows causing the issue where ever they go. It has been said that one rail could have been used in the middle but that doesn’t sit right with me so I ditched that idea straight away 👍🏻

39 Why not re-do the plumbing so it is neat, rather than coming through the back panel at odd heights or the big cut-out in the back & base of the cabinet? I would also of fitted the appliances and end decor panel after the floor is done. That way appliances can slide out, rather than chipping the lip of the flooring. Flooring going under decor panel and kick-plates look neater. I know it is more faffing about, but after the expense of the whole rebuild, worth the extra effort.
@Mr_A_Builders
@Mr_A_Builders Жыл бұрын
Hi. The plinths came off when the floor was completed and put back on after and as far as I’m aware this type of flooring shouldn’t have anything fixed put on top of it to allow it to move. It wasn’t an expense thing mate just information gathered from the flooring contractor. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻

yeah, laminate floors have to have expansion all the way round, often done by cork round the edges and then a bit of quadrant to hide it. The laminate I have done, I remove skirting and chip away the render and plaster, so the expansion cork is right against the wall. This way the expansion gap is hidden under the skirting & horrible quadrant is not required. Look forward to part 4, the finished room?

@Mr_A_Builders

This is an under mount sink so gets installed now and when quartz is fitted they put silicone on the lip of the sink and sit it on it. I’ve set my sink 2mm down form worktop level to accommodate a good silicone bed 👍🏻

This kitchen project is a joy to watch. Your attention to detail and explanation of what your doing and why is first class. As a DIYer I've learnt a lot from these videos. Just one question, and it may sound a bit dumb. Did you have to pack under the rear leg of the dishwasher as well or did it have more travel than the front legs?

Apologies if I've missed something but what's the reasoning behind putting end panels between the wall units, wouldn't they be better butted up against each other?

So Wren Kitchen designers are much the same as your high street shed kitchen suppliers the computer programme they use leaves a lot to be desired, if they were operated by a kitchen fitter or Joiner then the mistakes could be designed out of the layout, speaking from experience very rarely does the kitchen design work unless it is bog standard and suppliers have the cheek to charge you for cupboards that don't fit !!! .
@tonymcfeisty2478
@tonymcfeisty2478 Жыл бұрын
last kitchen I fitted, I had to totally redesign the island, if I hadn't one end of it left too little room one to properly use the dishwasher, and encroached too much on the oven door at the other end, yes you could use it but it would have been very annoying and made a largish (5.6mx4.7m) kitchen feel cramped. I ended up shortening the Island and creating a T-shape one which made use up lots of empty unused space, looked far more premium and allowed the fitting of a wine cooler and warmer draw.

RE: kitchen sink, i take it that the design allows for the waste to go left or right of the sink by just turning the unit around? that would mean your wastepipes nuts would have clearance and no need to use the treated wood back plate you made???.

Weird type of installation here Rich, fillers where they shouldn't need them, unit over the hob is too tall and won't give the right hob clearance..., not using the space-plugs for the other units, packer under the dishwasher feet.. larder units too tall for the alcove... sounds like a right cluster-feck !!! The work around under the sink is good, not sure why the huge cut-out is in the sink base though ??? You have added L brackets outside of the wall units too !! The first fix plumber needs his testicles felt imo !!!

Looks like he has made a pretty good fix of a crappy kitchen design, the attention to detail making the most out it, a less caring fitter and the kitchen would be proper honking. The sink is a terrible layout, just don’t like the set up at all with bars and elaborate levelling brackets. The L brackets are behind a integral dishwasher so never be seen. Suppose at least Wren are changing the cupboards to correct heights. Think is minimum 650 & 750 over a hob but could be a induction hob so be less..

Id be well pissed off if everything was in my new draw, never had an unleveled unit delivered before, fillers,filler,fillers, bad designer but should of also been picked up by the fitter on prefit really, why are tge base end panels cut on the top ? Just noticed the wall end panels are about 4mm over long any reason why ? 4 fillers in the tall unit corner when you could of got away with just two,

I’ve fitted a number of their kitchens now and can only assume that their designers have different tape measures to the rest of us as they NEVER fit! The quality of their kitchens is lovely but their after service is shocking (esp compared to Howdens for instance). @shaunian100

Put a panel each side of the draws to match the wall units, so thete aren't loads of fillers on the wall unit, the dishwasher should have a mun 604 gap not 600, don't know why you have put wood underneath the dishwasher as if it gets wet and swells it will put press on the machine pushing it up towards the tops, should also put a 2mm packer each side of the dishwasher to stop the tight space getting even tighter, (don't ask me how but iv been to remedial where the cupboard each side has some how moved towards the dishwasher). the waste won't fit on the main bowl as the rail is to tight to it, what happened to the back of the sink unit, the massive square cut out ? Sorry, but the sink brackets look atrocious abit of 60mm timber each side of the waste would of been more then enough.
