Followed your instructions for correcting the Start/Stop Service Required battery replacement. I followed each step you recommended and other than having a little trouble disconnecting the two wires the rest of the battery installation went smoothly. I waited 30 minutes before reconnecting everything and the all is working fine with no more Service message issue. Many thanks for taking the time to help Volvo owners save a few bucks.

Followed directions on a '20 S60 T6. Worked perfectly. No start/stop error message and the park assist now works. Initially failed to disconnect the main battery and c two onnectors to the support battery. The warning messages remained. Follow the whole procedure and it works. Other videos failed to mention disconnecting the main battery and the two connectors. Glad I found additional necessary details here. Saved me from needing to visit the dealer. Thanks for sharing all this great detail and taking the time to make this. It was great, but I couldn't remove the 2 cables / connectors on the front of the box that houses the support battery for the life of me. It was to the point that I was fearing I would damage them if I kept it up. Not sure if this will always work, but I found a Volvo Tech's post on Reddit who suggested simply leaving the car locked for 8 hours. Sure enough, the error disappeared after I did that. Maybe I got lucky, but I figured I'd share for the benefit of anyone else struggling with those cables.

Had the same issue. I live in a city where this system is simply not needed. Instead of turning it off every time I get in the car, can I just leave this battery there as it is? The fact that it's flat makes the whole start/stop system not working... and it suits me. Now.. is there a chance anything goes wrong if I leave it like this? Or perhaps, can I unplug it physically completely? Of course I get the warning on my screen each time. Another possibility for me that I might do here is to edit the car ECU soft so the car "remember" the last state of the start-stop system even after shutting the engine. So if I turn it OFF it will stay like this even if I turn restart the car. Thanks for the help!

Hi, I tried it twice but still have the "A with a strike through" at the 500 RPM position. So no start stop, but no other warnings. It's a 2016 XC90 . I called the dealer and they said it needs a software upgrade to recognize the new battery. And the software is not free! It's $100 for software and $100 labor. Sounds strange. The battery is a new OEM volvo battery and shows 13V in DMM. THanks

Can the support battery be recharged?
@WrenchingMafia Жыл бұрын
For the most part no, once it has a bad cell it will not go to a full state of charge

Just recently bought a 2017 xc90 t6 and thinking this may be the issue with intermittent power steering message and then yellow non blinking check engine light? The start stop, we usually turn off, but when it’s on, it doesn’t always work….so will go ahead and replace both batteries and see if it works. Watched several of your videos and you seem to be most helpful! Keep at it Sir!

For a dealer, this guy is pretty rough with the car. I constantly wonder why plastic covers have broken tabs and don't fit they they should when I get it back from the dealer, and now I know why. Additionally, any quality mechanic knows that you remove the ground terminal first when disconnecting a battery....as well as putting the ground on last when installing so you avoid the arc, which you saw in the video, which can cause all kinds of electronic issues in these newer cars. There's just no pride in doing things correctly these days, it just another job to get done
