That ref had a person in mind he wanted to win.. ot shows the way he officiated the match. Swidwrski was asking for blood time in the second, but never was awarded. Absolutely! This is the one major flaw in folk style wrestling! Leaving it to the subjective choice of the ref is unacceptable. If a wrestler steps out, point for the opponent.

@@erichvonmanstein8980 "Like he should have" is the current rule, and it is too subjective. Stepping outside the cylinder is an objective line the ref would not have discretion to call a point. The rule should be, if the wrestler steps out, his opponent gets a point. That takes away from the current nonsense of running to the edge of the cylinder as a strategy for winning

The ostate kid should have been hit with multiple start infractions on the neutral start.....it's not the referee's job to instruct the wrestler that his foot isn't on the line, that in itself was a form of stalling by not being in proximity of the opponent at the start whistle. I hate to be critical of the official, but that match should have gone into ot to determine the winner. Clearly stalled and fleeed the center of the mat.

The primary reason you don’t have better officials Is because parents chase them away in youth developmental leagues. Refs have to learn the skills and that takes practice. By definition, mistakes will be made. But who wants to deal with the verbal abuse, and sometimes physical threats and physical abuse from parents of 8-10 year old children? If the parents want better refs, go volunteer and be one. There isn’t a single referee, in any sport, in the armature levels doing it because the money is good.

Rather than talk trash about Williams, can we remember there are just young adults, if your the 4 seed against the 1 and your 1 match away from making it to nationals, ofc you will do what u have to, he scored early on, got hurt, and still finished the match, win is a win. Cant blame the refs either, the are a neutral party, OK state is not paying them. Casey was and is the better wrestlers and he will beat him the next time they meet

If points are imminent when an injury happens you award the points, he was clearly at least getting 1 there. Ref waited way too long to call stalling considering he walked backwards the entire time from the first whistle. Horrible

They both knew Williams was spent after the Second and could no longer compete, then coming out after the injury timeout, Williams quit completely, he knew he was going to lose if he didn't just stall. Williams wrestled a very good match until the final minute of the 3rd, but it definitely was not reffed the same. Williams took 3 shots in a row in the 1st and Casey got hit for stalling, same thing happened but the reverse in the second and no stalling for Williams? I don’t think the takedown out of the scramble in the 3rd was a takedown, Casey still held the ankle and was moving out of the postion when called, and no matter the situation, if a wrestlers goes out of bounds backwards, it’s stalling 100% and I think Casey should have gotten one more stalling at the end, but it is what it is

For me, I put some of the blame on the coaches for not calling a challenge. I understand that sometimes officiating we focus on other things such as reversal, safety, etc. Things are missed unfortunately, and hence why there is a mat assistant. There was a failure on the officials missing the locked hands, then failure on the coach to call it. The match would/should have went into overtime.

Big win for the baby faced kid... you could argue for stalling but he did a lot of early work that made it fairly balanced... real time I thought refs did well enough... goes to show you wrestler to get first takedown still has big advantage... I think around 70%

I agree this wasn't officiated the greatest. Casey left the door open and Williams took advantage. He can only blame himself for that. Hopefully next time we can see well officiated wrestling and not a track meet. Definitely inconsistent in stalling!

Just listened to Caseys CFTV video and I liked it. He realized he wasn't getting after it the way he should have the first 2 periods or so...good learning experience for him. He's already a handful but when he gets on his offense vs just taking ground he'll be tough to beat. As a former college wrestler and dad of 3 wrestlers...I want to see more respect in the sport from everyone. I love the "Wrestling with gratitude" movement.

not a follower of either team or wrestler... came across an article talking about controversy and how the "better" wrestler got screwed... Im sorry but I watched a 7 minute match where a lower seed controlled every aspect of it for 6 full minutes, out shooting his opponent by a significant margin and controlling an entire match. Then an injury, which to me looked like he mouthed "I just broke my collar bone (now whether that's what happened or not who knows... but that's surely what he thinks just happened). So up 5 pts with an injury and 1 minute left, the opposing player finally decided to try and turn it on for 60 seconds... and came up short. Anyone who wants to see someone win on 4 stalling calls in the final 30 seconds has zero respect for the sport.

Terrible officiating! No takedown in the third, led by a potentially dangerous call when he os getting taken down?!? While he is asking for injury time??? That ref was obviously wanting someone in A certain color singelet to win!! 🤬
