One you missed, Mankind vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell. The most famous match of all time? Why would Vince hate it? Well Mick let the cat out of the bag a little and hinted at something a little different. Knowing Mick Vince was apprehensive. "Humph," he went, thinking, maybe hoping, Cactus was just talking gaga. "When he said different, how different?" After the toss off the cell Vince was one of...well everyone who shouldn't be out there that was out there, visibly clearly distressed. Mick's life could well have been over, his career, the WWF, it would be all over. Oh it was over, by god was it over, fans ate it up especially when Mick got up to continue the match. After it was over Vince told him, "I want you to know how much I appreciate what you've done for the WWF, what you've sacrificed. I also want you to promise me you will never ever do anything like that again." Oh, throw in Shane vs Kurt and the glass spot too.

"The worst match in Wrestlemania history" Nope. The worst is Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg at WM20, and it's not even close. Nobody was expecting a great show from a decades-past-his-prime retiree and a commentator. Lesnar/Goldberg was two of the biggest stars in the industry, in a match that was hyped and advertised almost as much as the main event. And those two lazy scumbags just got in the ring and did a few lockups and shoulder blocks. They spent 90% of the time just staring at each other. In the immortal words of Bobby Heenan, "two ugly people looking at each other, that's fun." Even Steve "take my ball and go home" Austin, the referee, was clearly pissed at being involved in the debacle. Seriously, go rewatch that "match" sometime. They both should've been blackballed from the industry for it.

Vince McMahon hated the match when Ric Flair won back the WWE title from Macho Man Randy Savage a few days after SummerSlam 92, and forced the pair to redo the match several times. This led to Flair's departure and Macho Man put on commentary.
@stevepmg92023 жыл бұрын
This didn’t “lead to” Flair leaving, you’re putting 2 and 2 together to make 7 there. Flair was going to have a run with Warrior for the belt before he got injured and Warrior got fired. Flair left (out of his own book) because the plan for 93 was for him to work with Razor and lose to him because they were going with younger guys. They always had a gentleman’s agreement that if Flair wanted to go back to WCW that Vince would let him out of his deal. Vince was true to his word on the proviso Flair put over Perfect on TV before he finished, which is what happened, leading to a parting on good terms with Flair knowing he would be welcomed back if he ever wanted to return. Which eventually he did.
