First one that jumps to my mind is Roman. Even during his short lived businessman gimmick in NXT right before SS 2012 you could see glimpses of the pompous arrogant Tribal Chief in there and he was much more natural at it than the smiling Looney tunes babyface we got later.

He rebranded the One Man Gang into Akeem the African Dream and had him speak "jive" as another dig at Dusty. Then there was Ted Dibiase's bodyguard/manservant Virgil. He was given that name, as another shot because Dusty's real name was Virgil Runnels.

Hard disagree on Khali and Rey Mysterio. Khali was always so so bad in the ring that it was better to keep him dancing and smiling towards the bottom of the card instead of mixing it up with people in higher positions that didnt need him dragging them down. And Mysterio is fine. He's had world title programs with the people who have dominated that scene in recent years (Roman & Brock) proving he can be elevated whenever you need him to be, he's currently in a hot angle (Dom and him are obviously gonna face each other at Wrestlemania and Rey is gonna get one of the pops of his career when he finally snaps on his son), and continually shows he's capable of putting on a banger whenever he wants. He doesn't need to go over younger stars at this stage of his career.

I didn't realize it until now but Ronda Rousey being "suspended" in 2022 going on hiatus in 2023 is the only time in her career that she has not been on Raw and/or SmackDown on a weekly basis. Rey is a great. Along Piper, Flair, Undertaker. An unmistakable legend who has put a ton of years and miles on his body. And I would say more in ring action than most because of his particular High Impact Lucha style. If anyone wants to "coast" it is Rey. But he is now doing really meaningful work getting other wrestlers over and supporting people behind the scenes.

Harley Race did wrestle Hulk Hogan in the mid 80s but of course did the j.o.b. for the Hulkster. Hogan essentially made all the established legends from other territories look weak. He had also wrestled Terry Funk back then and squashed him as well. Alex Riley should have been pushed in a feud with The Miz and gotten the better of him to become a new star instead of The Miz being the star in the end

I disagree with Raquel being on the list. For one she still looks strong, her match with Ronda Rousey for example was good and proof of that. If WWE ever turn her heel she'll easily regain the aura she had in NXT. Honestly it's probably better for a tall and imposing performer to start as a good guy and then turn heel later on, otherwise you get the same result as with The Great Khali.

Agreed that Paul Roma was miscast as a Horseman. Roma was a solid worker and a good midcard act especially in a tag team, while the Horsemen are meant to be the best of the best. Vader jobbed around the country to Shawn Michaels in the run up to Summerslam '96. 'The Mastadon' was losing regularly in under ten minutes to Michaels. Vader lost approximately 75 per cent of his matches in the WWF that year. Vader even did a stack of jobs to Ahmed Johnson, and lost often to Sid, when Vader vs Sid could have been a pay-per-view main event. Vader was once the man who looked competitive in matches with Sting, Hogan and Ron Simmons in WCW, only to move to the WWF and job everywhere to the 220 pound ex-Rocker, who would flatten 'The Mastadon' with a kick to the face. Say what you will about WCW, at least they saw the value in Vader (albeit turning him face was a mistake). The WWF truly wasted him.

Ronda needed a mouthpiece, always did. She's not good on the mike. Give her a faction and a good mouthpiece like Roman with the Bloodline. Should have instantly paired her with Sayna, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Put the Raw or Smackdown title on Ronda, the Women's tag on Duke and Shafir and had Shayna as the enforcer. Then Ronda had goons to do her dirty work and under bosses for anyone to have to get through before they could get to her. Harley Race's 'King of Wrestling' gimmick was his own idea. It was a good gimmick. I watched the WWF in those days, and it helped to get him over as a pompous heel. The gimmick was then passed on to numerous other wrestlers, including Randy Savage, and it allowed Sherri Martel to adopt her Queen Sherri image. Don't listen to what this narrator says, he probably wasn't even alive when Race entered the WWF. Likewise, don't listen to this fellow when he tells you that Dusty Rhodes could have filled several WrestleMania main events. Rhodes was 43 when he signed with the WWF in 1989. Given that the WrestleMania babyface challenging the heel was always going to be Hulk Hogan, there was no way that Rhodes was going to replace him. On the flipside, there was no way that Rhodes was going to be a worthy heel challenger to Hogan and The Warrior. Nobody was going to buy the idea of Rhodes defeating Hogan, just as nobody was going to buy Rhodes defeating The Warrior. What's more, Dusty had been a face for years, he wasn't going to leave that role. Rhodes was best at playing the common man who fought snooty heels. Not every WWF wrestler is meant to be a main event player, and come 1989, Dusty's time had passed. Not that long after the 1990s began, Rhodes stopped wrestling a regular schedule, thus showing that even *he* knew his time was up.

The Raquel problem is actually more of a wider problem in the current women's division on the main roster.. Women there aren't allowed to have gimmicks or characters. Like outside of Asuka, Bayley, becks, Bianca, nicki cross and Chelsea green. Everyone else is very generic copy paste just with different colored hair. The faces are all boring smiling wave at the fans, and the heels are all only feels cause they insult the local sports team or badguys because they gang up on people after the match. It's really starting to feel like how Aew gave the women almost nothing.
