Man Ziggler has to be one of the most unluckiest people in WWE. His big moments were always cut short. He was the sole survivor in 2014 SS match vs the authority and that went nowhere. How about DDP's mystery benefactor? Diamond Dallas Page was kayfabe homeless when a limousine pulled up to him and invited him in. A pretaped vignette showed someone wearing white gloves getting DDP cleaned up and dressed in new clothes. When he returned to the ring, though, the identity of this man was never revealed.

So an abandoned storyline that I guarantee you that very few people besides me remember goes all the way back to 1987 right around the time of Wrestlemania 3. And it involved a feud that appeared to be developing between Blackjack Mulligan and Outlaw Ron Bass. Prior to Wrestlemania 3, the two big Texans would argue in interviews as to who was the biggest and meanest wrestler to ever come out of the state of Texas though the only time they would ever be in the ring together was in a battle royal on Saturday Night's Main Event in February of that year. Since neither Bass or Mulligan were on the WM3 card, neither got much air time leading up to the big event in the Pontiac Silverdome as the WWF had to use all their airtime to promote the matches on the card. So the whole storyline was sort of put on the back burner until after Wrestlemania 3. But it was picked up after that. Bass started doing interviews where he would talk about Mulligan's girlfriend, a woman who went by the name of Sarah Jo Puckett. According to Bass she was huge, weighing over 300 pounds and was ugly and missing teeth and Bass had some pretty hillarious putdowns about her in his interviews. Mulligan came back in an interview with Craig DeGeorge and told Bass to knock it off and said that Bass could say anything he wanted to about him but that he better not talk about Sarah Jo Puckett or there would be hell to pay. Craig DeGeorge than interviewed Bass the next week where he continued to make fun of Sarah Jo Puckett and told Mulligan to come and get him and also promised that soon the whole world would know just how ugly Sarah Jo Puckett really is. And that's where the feud ended. Mulligan quit the WWF before we ever got to see Sarah Jo and Bass would flounder in the midcard for over a year before they finally came up with a way to use him in a feud with Brutus the Barber Beefcake. I can remember though watching it at 10 years old and for a few weeks I kept waiting to see what Sarah Jo looked like, but it never came to pass.

Dustin Rhodes also had a abandoned storyline in WCW under the name of Seven as it was abandoned without on screen explanation after just one appearance. Much later it was discovered that the problem was a vignette for the character standing at a window outside of little boy's room, the boy played by than very young Cody Rhodes, and WCW management were afraid he might be seen as child stalker.

I was at the Raw in Cincinnati when the Pillman/Goldust feud was hitting it's peak, just a week or two before his death. I was so bummed that he only appeared on the Titantron with Marlena, as he's from Cincinnati. I made a sign for him and everything. Sadly, he was gone just days later, and Goldust and Marlena renewed their vows instead.

The problem with the Hideo's attacker storyline was that he was gone for too long. the fact is that, by the time he'd come back the first time, anyone who'd have had any reason to attack him had already moved on to the main roster and the entire landscape of NXT had shifted several times over.

This is off topic, but since you mentioned Curt Hennig, I was thinking about when Mr. Perfect had a "perfect record" in the first year or so of his WWF career...and his "first loss" was allegedly to Mr. Perfect at Wrestlemania...I think it was 6? But I was at a house show in at the Philadelphia Spectrum, which used to have awesome cards once a month, a couple months before Mania, and Perfect wrestled Hogan in the main event, lost cleanly, and then the next morning they were still talking about his perfect record on Superstars or whatever it was I was watching. It was then that I began to realize that wrestling was a work. In my defense, I was only about 10🤣🤣

Stacey Keibler's stories had multiple bad ideas, Vince McMahon probably wanted to use them. 1) Ric Flair was the father of Stacey's baby 2) Stacey was the illegitimate daughter of Ric Flair and the baby was David's. Hence, half sister and half brother would have a baby. Now Vince McMahon pitched something similar. 1) Vince and Stephanie was going to have a baby together. 2) Stephanie declined and pitched for Shane to be the father of her baby. Shane AXED all incest storylines, because he isn't screwed in the head.

Here’s some rumored cancelled storylines I’ve read. Or they were altered. Not all maybe true. 2006. The rockers reuniting to take on the mcmahons. Late 2003. Orton and Batista turn on triple h and kick him out of evolution leading feud and eventually a match at wrestlemania 20. 2005. The rock coming back to face jbl at wrestlemania 21 and winning the title. 2012. Cena turning heel after wrestlemania 28. 2006. Shawn Michaels was to do a program with Eddie leading to a match at wrestlemania 22. 2006. Randy orton was to win the title at wrestlemania 22 but failed a wellness policy. 2011. Cena keeping the wwe title for the rest of 2011 going into 2012 where he would have defended it against the rock at wrestlemania 28. This changed when cm punk got hot.
