Wrestling Offense: Headlock

The headlock is an offensive wrestling technique that can help you get your opponent off their feet and in a possible position for you to score a pin.
“The headlock is an upper-body throw where your grab your opponent’s head and arm and toss them over your hip,” former national team assistant coach Erin Vandiver says.
The headlock is executed from the neutral position. To perform the headlock: attack your opponent’s head and arm, rotate your body and hips into your opponent, and throw your opponent over your hip.

This also acts as a beautiful entry into Kesa Gatame, which is a powerful top position with quite a few submissions available. Just remember to collect the opponent's elbow by gripping tightly behind the tricep, so as not to allow the opponent to elbow the mat and scoot out towards your back for the sneaky back-take counter.

I first close the distance by stepping forward and do a bear hug but aound the neck and shoulder. With the momentum of the forward step, I lock, then rotate down 180'. You can slam or be gentle.
