Wrestling Personalities Discuss Steve Austin
Numerous former WWE/WCW/ECW and Memphis Wrestling personalities discuss "WWE Hall of Famer" Stone Cold Steve Austin and their personal experiences dealing with him both starting off in the business, coming up though his various gimmicks and finally what he was like as one of the all time top drawing wrestlers that transcended wrestling into the mainstream entertainment world leading WWE to one of the most popular periods when ratings where reaching numbers that will likely never be duplicated and crowds were selling out even for house shows.

If you're a regular on TV, ppvs, and you move merchandise, you're a superstar. Especially when you're employed by a publicly traded company like WWE. But not megastars like Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, The Rock, and John Cena. First time I saw Austin was in 85 or 86 at a match in Oklahoma. I remember him there, but not much about him then. Saw the 3 Von Ericks, Chris Adam's, Sunny, Tornado, Midnight Express, Eddie Guerrero, Ultimate Warrior- Sunny brought in to "clean up the alliance" and Rick Martell. I'll never forget Martell. A big heavy set woman sitting in the front row, was trash mouthing Martell when he entered the ring. Martell stood at the edge of the ring in front of her, and cupped his hands around his crouch to, I guess, simulate a vagina. Then, he puts his cupped hands over his head as if his head would fit. I laughed so hard I cried. Stuff like this is what fans remember over the years. I'm glad Austin's career took off after the Dallas alliance, I enjoy his movies. RIP all those I admired, you are missed.

Dutch said some things that every young wrestler needs to know & some never learn it. When you're the rookie, or even just the low man on the pole, you shut your mouth & you listen. You don't even ask questions at first. Mouth closed, ears & eyes open. Once you've established yourself with the vets you're around, *then* you start asking questions. Any deviation from that order & they'll take it out of your ass!

I believe it could be the crowd being so hot (anything Steve did then with whoever was gonna get WAY over) And it being exhillerating being out there with THE top guy , more mentally tasking than Benoit blistering you with chops and stiff shots . More fast paced , but mentally shit can exhaust you as well . Especially with an electric crowd making your adrenaline and heart race . IDK . Just my two cents no one asked for lol !

@James Stuard You must be new to all of this, it's a known fact that Dutch Mantell is the person that named Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold has told the same story on numerous occasions. Stone Cold has also said it was his wife who gave him the moniker Stone Cold, she being from England use the term when telling him to drink his beverage before it became Stone Cold and that's how Stone Cold Steve Austin was named. Dutch called him Steve Austin and Stone Cold's ex wife gave him Stone Cold.

dont know why sullivans asking the question if vince would have turned heel if eric hadnt turned heel 1st .... after the screwjob what else would he have done the gimmick of mr mcmahon fell in his lap any one with half a brain would have ran with that angle .... and as for wwe not been able to handle the barrage of wcw if they had austin and the rock on the roster well they would have been booked into the ground and would have been working la parka and glaicer on thunder within 2 weeks of been there because you know any mention of a push on the main event scene would have been met with the qoute that doesnt work for me brother

When I was downsized back in early 2013, for the few weeks it took me to find a new job, I lived on mostly baked potatoes. Sometimes, I'd treat myself and put some shredded cheese and sour cream (plain yogurt) on 'em!
