Wrestling Bios Presents - The Story of Steve Blackman in the WWF
When in came to the Attitude Era, the general rule was to be over-the-top, turn the volume up to 11, and you'd get popular. The formula worked for many superstars, but Steve Blackman went in a totally different route. Not being well versed on the mic meant Steve had to prove himself in the ring, and seeing how Steve managed to remain in the WWE during the entire Attitude Era, we can definitely say that he was good enough in the ring.
From his debut in the WWF in 1997, his tag team with Ken Shamrock, his heel turn that saw him battle Shamrock in a range of different match types, to his partnership with Al Snow and the "Head Cheese" faction, Steve Blackman may not have been in the main events but he was consistent and fun to watch in the ring. Considered as one of the toughest men in wrestling, Steve Blackman's story gets told in this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios.

Thinking someones stare is conducive to how dangerous they really are is your first mistake.

@@TheGlobuleReturns It's more the ability to notice the calmness in the stare than the actual gaze. It's hard for some to know the difference. There is a difference. James Thompson vs. Alexander Emilianenko is a decent enough example. If anyone is starting a fight with someone and you sense that calmness while you know you are forcing yours, best to just walk away. If not, it's gonna hurt.

A lot of guys who have that calmness only have it because they’ve never actually been in a real fight. Not saying that’s what this is, but just an example of a situation where calmness means nothing.

@@TheGlobuleReturns Calmness is the absence of fear, nervousness, anger etc. All of which can get someone hurt.Most people who've never been in a fight are nervous at the least. People fear what they don't know or haven't done. Human nature. The calmness comes from either knowing what one is capable of or just a natural ability to not fear. When the body is in check with emotions and the spirit is when a person is at their peak. You are correct though. The stare means nothing. It's what's behind that stare.

Haha, same for me. He is a legitimately good man and extremely hard worker. His recovery from malaria while slowly progressing and never giving up is equivalent to his in ring work. He started off barely a jobber and eventually found himself and became a solid upper mid card guy. He also had some awesome matches with Owen Hart.

It's rare for a WWF star I know to leave on his own terms while still being used and promoted. He was just all around solid, and I loved watching him. Sounds like he had no problems in the WWF and again, that's extremely rare. I'm glad he was able to showcase his talents to us.

I watched this the week I came down with covid in New York in September 2020. I sat there on my own in my apartment, throwing up, burning up, unable to breathe, numbness in limbs, and just generally feeling like hell. I knew of Blackman's story but listening to this gave me hope and inspiration at a time when I really needed it. All I could do was sleep and I lost about 30lbs of muscle. I knew I'd have a long road ahead of me, but Steve's story has and continues to inspire. Thanks for making this.

I am in a much better condition now and only recently got over a third bout which was more a blip than anything else. Like yourself, I'll never get the vax. My advice is to allow your body time to rest and only slowly work individual body parts back into shape. If you can, get blood tests done and check your hormone levels as C19 has been shown to drastically reduce testosterone. Also check your B vitamin levels. Clean diet, fresh air, and plenty of sunlight when you can get it in Ireland (from Derry originally so I know the difficulty there). We'll all get through this.

Even tho his promos weren’t great he still had the intense look which helped to keep his credibility. Another fantastic video and a great tribute to a genuine tough guy. I saw him at the terminal at DIA, he was a very nice individual. I was able to visit with him for about 15 minutes--much of it was about his malaria. I suffered with the West Nile virus years ago so I guess we had something relative to share.
