Wrestling Bios Presents - The Story of Adam Bomb in the WWF
Adam Bomb is one of the more recognizable gimmicks and stars of the WWF's "New Generation" era. While many point to this character and make mention of everything wrong with mid 90s WWE, others actually have fond memories of Bryan Clark playing the Adam Bomb character. While Adam Bomb didn't reach main event status, or even win a championship title within the WWF, he was a very capable professional wrestler that seemed to be missing the "it" factor.
This mini documentary from Wrestling Bios takes a look at the Adam Bomb character in the WWF, from his dominating first months within the company to his slip into lower midcard of the World Wrestling Federation. Topics covered include:
00:40 - The Three Mile Island Accident and the Adam Bomb character
03:20 - The Nightstalker in WCW
04:48 - The Adam Bomb WWF Debut
06:10 - How Bryan Clark almost became The Ringmaster
08:50 - Adam Bomb at The Survivor Series 1993
10:35 - Adam gets squashed in his WrestleMania debut
15:08 - Why Adam Bomb left the WWF
Much More!

One of the best big men in all of wrestling. He had the size of Crush, Sid, Diesel, or Taker, but he could do a slingshot flying clothesline over the top rope from the ring apron. Very agile for such a big guy. Always felt like McMahon dropped the ball on him. Really believe this guy had the potential of being a huge star. Another thing is when Clarke & Adams became KroniK, i felt both WCW & WWE made a big mistake not making the tag team into LOD or Demolition level stars. Felt the same with Powers of Pain - Warlord & Barbarian. Such a great opportunity completely overlooked. - Btw, imagine the electricity in the crowd and the intensity of KroniK coming out to a song like "Warriors of the World" by Manowar. Go take a listen!

I was a fan of Adam bomb back in the day. And I was disappointed that he never got a title run despite of his dominant appearance. Its sad how his WWE career just faded away. It's even worse with Bam Bam Bigelow. A man of this size with this amazing skill set and the legit fighter appearance should have been covered all over with titles and should have stayed on top of the game for many years.

I always liked Bryan Clarke but I was introduced to him for the first time as Wrath. To me, an 11 year old kid (at the time) Wrath looked like a big muscular beast, strong & silent and he had a great (very underrated) finisher at the time, The Meltdown. He did go on a streak in WCW but it was totally overshadowed by Goldberg.

Brian Clark was an underrated talent in the Cartoon Network era. What was missing with him was a good "gimmick". I don't remember his promos as Adam Bomb, which is probably why he had mouth pieces representing him. If you try to picture him in a faction back then, such as with the Heenan family, Jimmy Hart's stable, or with Fuji's crew- you can't. He wouldn't have fit in well. He was intimidating to look at & had some solid moves though. Maybe he was missing charisma as well. Billy Jack Haynes was pretty stoic, but he got over with fans in the prior era. His best work was with Kronik. They were over with fans but for some reason they were under pushed by Vince & co.

Adam Bomb wrestled Shawn Michaels on the Action Zone in March of 1995, which was aired about one week before Shawn Michaels main evented Wrestlemania 11 against Diesel. It was nearly a ten minute match, and pretty decent. I think that should have been included, because it shows they hadn't given up on Adam Bomb yet and the IC title run he was promised may have been sincere at the time he was told of the plans. This HBK match would have been about 2-3 months before he was told of the plans to make him IC champ. Sometimes plans change -- doesn't necessarily mean he was lied to. Maybe he didn't live up to expectations.

Bryan Clark is the real deal. I followed his whole career and am a HUGE fan! He was wronged in so many ways and really underused. He had the talent and potential to be way bigger than Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. No man his size had the agility or moves he did! He had an amazing look, charisma and ring presence. He was the total package and deserved so much better than he got. He should have a lot more titles put on him.... Politics 🙄 I had the amazing chance to meet him and he was so sweet and kind. He took the time to have a conversation with me and didn’t just brush me off. He was gracious and a real Southern gentleman. You would never know he was famous. He has done a lot of good for communities as well, with Toys for Tots, Special Olympics and Sheltie rescue in honor of his dog that just passed away. He really deserves to be in every Hall of Fame there is! Definitely should be 1st ballot!

According to Jim Cornette, WWE Creative department had a huge part in all those gimmick mistakes in the early to mid 90's. Sounded like a bunch of graphic designers Vince thought were the latest cutting edge thing to modernize wrestling. Any experienced wrestler like Ax and Smash from Demoliton if they were given mgmt status to oversee creative would have said Adam Bomb needed dark colours and a non-flamboyant manager.

I think the thing that was missing, at least in his WWF run, was mic work. In-ring is only so much, a guy who can use the stick is often that big difference maker & not saying he wasn't good on the mic, but we never really saw him cut a promo, it was always Polo/Raven or Harvey doing most of the work. Another talented big man buried because he had a manager, imo.

Great video as usual. I think this is the best wrestling channel on KZbin. 👍 from Denmark 🇩🇰

Definitely one of my favorite as well, if not my number one. Dude just gets straight to the facts without being pretentious or any so-called "comedy". That's hard to find in the current KZbin wrestling climate and it's damn well appreciated.

I loved his entrance and the focus on eye colour really matched with his ring name when I used to watch wwf

I liked Adam Bomb as a kid and I only got to see bits of WWF back then, so I woulda liked to have seen more of him. I think if Brian switched gimmicks it coulda benefited him more.

I loved the Adam Bomb character. The smart wrestling fan in me knew he was doomed when paired with Harvey Whippleman.

Always surprised Clark didn't get a huge push, was a big powerful guy with a great look, he had all the tools to make it in McMahon's WWF.

Always was confused when he was a heel why he was never given any kind of long term feud with anyone as he could have been a great at being the monster. Saying that the same thing really happened with his singles push in wcw as wrath he got to a certain point of being dominant then they didn't know where to go with him. Although, that was probably more backstage egos that stopped that push.

I saw him live from the 5th row when I was 15 and even then I saw what they were seeing. He wrestled in a way that almost looked like he was counting dance steps. That didn't translate to TV but as I was watching him that night I was thinking that it was easy to tell his attacks weren't real.

IMO he was the only one who made the pumphandle slam look genuinely devastating. With everyone else it always looked kinda weak.

Thank you so much for this bio. I really liked the character and thought he had been treated badly. I know it is a very dated gimic but for what ever reason, I was a huge fan. He had a really good finishing move as well.
