WWF / WWE WrestleMania is considered (and supposed to be) the biggest show the company produces every year. There's been some great WrestleMania events in the past including WrestleMania XIX, WrestleMania X-7 and WresleMania 30, but not all Mania events are created equal. Some annual mania shows have been pretty bad including Mania 2 (that was hosted in 3 different cities), WrestleMania 27 (hosted by The Rock) and WrestleMania IX (from Ceaser's Palace). Fans on Cagematch scored each and every Wrestlemania event in history, and this video explores the lowest rated shows.
From Hulk Hogan swooping in to take the WWF Championship from Yokozuna to The Rock vs John Cena "Twice in a lifetime", from LT and Bam Bam Bigelow main eventing to Bret and Shawn going for 60 minutes in Anaheim, these are the worst rated WrestleMania events in history.

As a kid that watched WM9 when it happened I absolutely loved it. It was different to any other show they’d put on at the time and even the main event hyped me up. WM9 was fantastic as a kid too. Giant Gonzales had a look and fear factor around him that Undertakers other big man opponents like Bundy really didn't. The whole show looked great. The Bret vs Yoko match is actually excellent, the way Bret chose to work it. As a kid I didn't think much of the Hogan ending either way though I think I was a bigger Bret fan by then. There's no soul in modern Wrestlemanias - they're all in a stadium, they all have the same "HD" quality, they all have the same lighting and feel. You can't tell one apart from the other day. Dear Mr. Bios, I honetly belive that you are the first KZbinr who is involved with wrestling content, who looks at a worst wresltemania's list and talks positively about the events. For example WM27 was torn to shreds by others, saying that there is no redeeming qualities about that show. (saying the wwe championship match and the miz were aweful, undertaker vs triple h is the same as at WM 17 and not rating either the edge vs del rio and punk vs orton matches). Thank you for bringing positivity to the scene, been a subscriber for 2-3 months know and I nearly caught up with your reliving the war series (that just shows you that I can't stop watching the episodes, they are so good) Overall, it's a pretty long message, so to keep the ending brief, thank you for bringing positivity to my (and many other's life) and keeping us entertained. Wrestlemania 12 holds a special place in my heart. It was the first WM I watched live on PPV. This was about/right before the internet and the online dirt sheets, before everyone became a smart mark. This was when wrestling was still "real." I've watched the iron man match about 50 times. The whole match wasn't the most entertaining but it was all building up until the last few minutes, which is still one of the most intense moments in wrestling. It also featured the return of the Ultimate Warrior, and the return of Roddy Piper.

WrestleMania 12 holds a special place in the heart of wrestling fans due to the iconic Iron Man match between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart for the WWF Championship. Oh, I loved WrestleMania V. You could argue that's nostalgia, I suppose. It _was_ the first wrestling PPV I watched, and I got to see it on closed-circuit TV at Boutwell Auditorium. I didn't know all the wrestlers yet, I had only vague ideas of who I did and didn't care about. But man, I loved it. In fact WMs 3-6 are what I think of when I think of what an ideal WrestleMania should look like (yes, I loved WM4, too). I don't mind the undercards at any of these events, and all of them entertained me perfectly well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At 5, that Blue Blazer vs Mr. Perfect match was a HUGE part of what made me truly fall in love what this sport/pasttime/entertainment/thing (though, it would be the Rockers and Bret Hart moving forward that really kept my attention week after week).

Wrestlemania V was a huge event. 1989 was the absolute peak of the Rock 'N Wrestling era. Hogan vs Savage is still probably the best feud in company history, and they put on an excellent match. The rest of the matches on the card were all solid. All the stars of that era were on the show. I'd take WM5 over any of the bland stadium shows of the last 15 years.

That was the first WM I rented from the video store after I became a wrestling fan, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it too. They all kind of blur together after about 2005 or so.

How do you feel about the Hollywood Backlot Brawl? Personally, I think it was very unique and innovative. The "cinematic" aspect was waaaay ahead of its time, and it was more wild and over the top than much of what was being seen in WWF at the time. It's something I think about when thinking about the "proto-Attitude Era" (the period between late 1995 and 1997 when WWF started experimenting with edgier content).

Wrestlemania 3 is my pinnacle. I started getting into wrestling at that point. Watching Andre turn on Hogan and an Orndorff vs Hogan steel cage match on a Saturday Night's Main Event hooked me. So, as mediocre Wrestlemania 3 may have been, it is very memorable. One great match. A few good to great storylines. Andre being slammed by Hogan on an international level. Steamboat and Savage in an epic battle. The only disappointment was a count out finish between Hercules and Billy Jack Haynes. Good video, Bios.

I think it was kind of neat how in the mid 20s the Undertaker challenge turned into a main event. It was like something more than the WWF championship (which should always be number 1 priority) because it grew into this once a year chance to be the guy to end it. I wish they would’ve tied in the strap on year too. WWF Champ vs The Streak could’ve been huge.

They also botched some potentially great secondary storylines. I think most fans fully expected to see Savage vs Steamboat in a rematch of WM3, since they were paired in the same half of the bracket. Would have been a great babyface vs babyface angle, even for just one match. Instead, Steamboat loses, and Savage quickly beats Valentine (who granted, I think is awesome) in a match that meant nothing. I think a Steamboat vs Savage in the semifinals would have been spectacular. Savage gets his redemption, but it's another bitter slog and he's completely gassed going into the finals, creating more storyline tension.

Another note on Wrestlemania 2, unlike with Starrcade 85 & 86, it was in three different timezones so that definitely didn't help plus for the west coast feed, they didn't get the New York & Chicago matches until after the live Los Angeles show so their main event was the Bulldogs/Valentine & Beefcake tag match. There used to be videos on this site of what the west coast feed had and I'm surprised WWE never did anything with it. One of the videos I remember seeing was of a promo with Hogan after his match.
@legionarybooks13
@legionarybooks13 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they definitely did not think that one through. Plus, you're only getting four matches in each arena, some of which were painfully short. The first two bouts at the Rosemont (Moolah vs McIntyre and Kirchner vs Volkoff) lasted a COMBINED 3:30. If I'd bought tickets to that venue, I'd be pissed.

I still get goosebumps thinking about the first Wrestlemania. As i watched it back in 1985 i had the feeling something big is gonna happen. The Piper/Hogan feud was very well build and inserting T and Orndorff was the cherry on top. Studd / Andre was also something special no matter how the actual match turned out to be. But people who weren´t even born at this time can never know how we felt about Wrestling back then. I like todays Wrestling also and the match quality is superb but in the old times (83-85)it felt more like legit fighting.
