Congrats on the 300k Subs ! You deserve it, brother ! Favorite channel on KZbin ... no competition whatsoever ... it takes me back to when I was a young kid and wrestling was #1 priority ... a time in my life where wrestling helped me get through some very hard times. I have such a vivid memory of these years and this channel brings them all back like they happened yesterday. I’m extremely thankful that I was able to live in this era, tho, and I’m also grateful for this series, because it allows me to relive it all (no pun intended) without the back and forth channel flipping and the circumstances. Amazing to watch these shows again as an adult and noticing so much more than I did when I was just a young kid ... it’s truly a great feeling watching these again. Thank you for what you do 🤙🏻

"Fans shouldn't be looked down on for what they enjoy." Seems like 2022 Cornette needs to listen to 1997 Cornette's advice.
@henrygvidonas95732 жыл бұрын
Almost all the fans he was talking about/for in that segment don't watch wrestling anymore in 2022. Average and casual fans. It's a niche audience of smart marks and hardcore nerds now, not a regular mainstream audience with various levels of interest - or lack therof - beyond the actual shows and matches. Pro wrestling has lost four fifths of the audience it used to have. 80%! Show me one single person today who goes to shows regularly and watches the TV shows every week, who only cares about that and doesn't keep up with all the stuff going on in and around the promotion and the business in general. The biggest, most important, single most talked about fight in all of pro wrestling this year has been the real one behind the scenes in CM Punk's dressing room - that we will never see. What does _that_ tell you about the current state of pro wrestling? Basically everything in the business that _isn't_ on the shows and in the rings is more important and gets more media coverage. You and me are here watching a video about two wrestling TV shows from a quarter of a century ago, instead of videos of current matches. Cornette can be criticised for how confrontational he phrases some of his statements, but I dare anyone to refute the contents of most of his opinion pieces with facts that prove he's wrong. So far, everyone who tried that failed, because the facts support his view of the state current wrestling. Smallest audience ever, since the beginning of the TV era of pro wrestling, smallest number of house shows ever, declining ticket sales for TV tapings, least believable product and convincing "characters" ever, exponentially more and worse injuries among performers who only work once or twice a week now, than in the territory days when they worked five or six times per week, sometimes twice in one day. The current AEW champion is a guy who can't throw a believable working punch to save his life, looks like a smelly gas station attendant with a substance abuse problem, and blades in every match - making it completely meaningless. Nobody outside the wrestling mark bubble, in the mainstream entertainment audience, has any idea who he is. Couldn't even dream of being a guest on a late night show, like top wrestlers used to be all the time. Learn the difference between a worked TV segment of a WWF employee and office member (based mostly on Jim's real opinions at the time, nevertheless) - and reviews/editorials of an independent person who has retired from the business and bases his opinions on an unparalleled wealth of experience and knowledge. Jim has done every job there is in and around the business. From working at a concessions stand, being a ring photographer, performer, agent, talent agent, talent scout, trainer and developer, producer, writer, booker, match type and finish inventor (all the various Midnight Express finishes, HIC and Triple Threat matches), owner and co-owner of two wrestling promotions and a merchandise and memorabilia "empire", noted historian and book author, interviewer and host, podcaster. Not to mention that he performed in both "Starrcade" and "WrestleMania" main events, how many people have that on their resume? Jim's podcast has more listeners than AEW "Dynamite" has viewers. I would think about that for a second...

I remember being more confused than anything with the WWF storylines at this time, with ALL the different factions. Getting to ‘relive’ those storylines, I find myself feeling the exact same way. Knowing what’s coming, this is a very exciting time, but I feel that my excitement is more stoked by the benefit of hindsight than how the WWF actually handled their storytelling during this groundbreaking transition they were going through. It’s cool to see them actually evolving and taking risks, but I felt that the heat between Shawn & Bret had been watered down by all the other factions crossing over. It felt like every faction was playing heel, with only Stone Cold acting as an intermediate face. I wonder how much of it was by design vs how much just kind of shook out organically. Either way, super entertaining… even the second time around. Love your channel, mate! Thanks for all you do.
@SpaceGhost922 жыл бұрын
And Austin couldn’t even wrestle post summerslam. Undertaker was there too but he was busy with Kane. But in fairness the hart foundation became round about faces again after the DX official formation. And also in fairness, DX were getting tons of heat so Vince made the right call ultimately
