It's crazy watching the video dedicated to the Radicalz and realizing we're finally there in Reliving the War, feels like so long ago. @Obscusion2
@Obscusion2 3 күн бұрын
@@BainesMkII It didn't even need to be clean. Cactus Jack threatened to interfere if he felt something fishy would happen (which he never did), so all they would have needed to do was have Stephanie &/or DX interfere, resulting in Cactus attacking Triple H & Benoit taking advantage of it for the win. That way it's still a win for the Radicalz, though Triple H's loss wouldn't be clean (thereby still protecting him as champion), & it'd continue the HHH/Cactus feud.

Because I didn't watch WCW (didn't have cable at the time) I didn't know anything about any of the members of the Radicalz, but I do remember that I was rather impressed with the in-ring work all of them because of this episode despite them losing all their matches... and I for one was very interested to see more from all of them. It may be that because I didn't watch wrestling from 1992 to Smackdown's debut in 1999, so I wasn't jaded by the more predictable bookings and the behind the scenes garbage from the past decade. So I didn't see this as an utter burial like so many other fans did at the time, and still do today.

Looking at the later storyline the Radicalz turned on Mick Foley because HHH offered them a contract if they did so in hindsight this kind of made sense but I think, once the tag team match had gone south, having Benoit win would have made more sense. Consider an angle where all the Radicalz except Benoit had been given contracts - there's a load of twist and turns in there and I think they missed a trick.

So Steve Austin breaks his neck and hooks Owen with a horrible school boy to keep the storyline going, but the best they could come up with is for the Outlaws to pin the Radicalz and make the entire team go 0-3? I thought it was excellent DX got the clean sweep. You're not buried just because you lose to someone. HHH knows how to put someone over even in defeat. He's done it multiple times, including this one.

This is the first episode of Smackdown I ever watched. I watched RAW from 1993-1997, then just kinda stopped watching. This episode immediately got me interested again. I had no idea who the Radicals were, and I had no idea why Hunter Hearst Helmsley was in charge of everything, but I was definitely intrigued from the start. I continued to watch for about 3 years before my interest fizzled out again.

I feel like taz should be in the wwe hall of fame. i mean i feel like his run in wwe is basically not acknowledged by anyone, but between ecw and wwe he's worthy...even if you want to count his commentating for aew.
