Checking DDT Digest and on Thunder: Sid competed in Triple Threat Theatre against Rotunda, Rick Steiner and The Harris Brothers. End of show saw him get battered by the nWo. Hogan returned and got into a feud with Total Package. DDP defeated The Machine after Machine crotched himself on the top rope.

Cactus Jack threatened to interfere if he felt something fishy would happen (which he never did), so all they would have needed to do was have Stephanie &/or DX interfere, resulting in Cactus attacking Triple H & Benoit taking advantage of it for the win. That way it's still a win for the Radicalz, though Triple H's loss wouldn't be clean (thereby still protecting him as champion), & it'd continue the HHH/Cactus feud.

Because I didn't watch WCW (didn't have cable at the time) I didn't know anything about any of the members of the Radicalz, but I do remember that I was rather impressed with the in-ring work all of them because of this episode despite them losing all their matches... and I for one was very interested to see more from all of them. It may be that because I didn't watch wrestling from 1992 to Smackdown's debut in 1999, so I wasn't jaded by the more predictable bookings and the behind the scenes garbage from the past decade. So I didn't see this as an utter burial like so many other fans did at the time, and still do today.

To be fair benoit does feud with the rock in the main event throughout the year 2000 and benoit and eddie wouldn't become actual main event stars for another 4 more years. Dean and Saturn however had a way worse run in wwe than in wcw.

Fun fact: the “shut up juice” line originated from Conan O’ Brien. It was during an interview segment with the Rock and Conan said the line, and then the writer wrote that line for the Rock. I don’t know if this was the first time he used that (or if he ever used it more than the one time), but if it’s not, then it would have been whenever he first used it.

This next episode of RTW was my very first episode of Raw after switching over from WCW. I missed the first half for some reason so the first match I saw was Jackie vs Luna. But the whole 5 on 1 story they kept building throughout the episode along with the way the main even ends... I was hooked and never missed an episode of Raw for years and years after that. I've been looking forward to you covering this episode for a long time. It's a pivotal part of my childhood.

Looking at the later storyline the Radicalz turned on Mick Foley because HHH offered them a contract if they did so in hindsight this kind of made sense but I think, once the tag team match had gone south, having Benoit win would have made more sense. Consider an angle where all the Radicalz except Benoit had been given contracts - there's a load of twist and turns in there and I think they missed a trick.

So Steve Austin breaks his neck and hooks Owen with a horrible school boy to keep the storyline going, but the best they could come up with is for the Outlaws to pin the Radicalz and make the entire team go 0-3? Hey, I’ve never separated a shoulder. I can’t imagine how painful it could be, but just having Eddie take the loss seemed like the most needlessly complicated way of ending the match.

This is the first episode of Smackdown I ever watched. I watched RAW from 1993-1997, then just kinda stopped watching. This episode immediately got me interested again. I had no idea who the Radicals were, and I had no idea why Hunter Hearst Helmsley was in charge of everything, but I was definitely intrigued from the start. I continued to watch for about 3 years before my interest fizzled out again.
