The fact that Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz because such heated rivals also played to this. They weren't just some new guys Gangrel pulled aside to replace E&C - they built their own rivalry with E&C and both went on to set the Gold Standard for Tag Team Wrestling, alongside The Dudley Boyz. The TLC matches were so amazing and popular they are still talked about today in the same way the original Hell in a Cell match is talked about for singles matches. If you had picked any other team to pair with Gangrel as The New Brood, they likely would've been an absolute failure that would've ruined their own reputation alongside that of Gangrel.
