I almost included the Batista feud but that's for another day. Cena's return was red hot initially. He was somewhat cooled down but it didn't matter because he was John Cena. It doesn't rank up there as one of his best runs but there's some gems. What did you think of Cena's return in 2008?

John Cena’s return in 2008 was jaw dropping at MSG. At the same time his return was kind of okay cause he didn’t become world champion until survivor series due to the herniated disc he broke in his neck and bc the company was focusing more on Randy & HHH being world champion.

Cena had an incredible 2008. With the exception of his return at the Royal Rumble, I don't know why this run isn't talked about more. He had great feuds with Orton, HHH, JBL, Batista and Chris Jericho to name a few.

2008 was such a weird year for Cena. He wasn’t treated like THE guy like he was before the injury. It was like when Austin came back in 2000 and The Rock was the top guy. He didn’t win a world title until he beat Jericho late in the year. And that was a nothing feud. His best matches in 2008 were the match with Batista at summerslam and jbl at great American bash. And his match with Triple H at night of champions

Please do Randy's return in Late 08. I believe he ran his program for the World championship, talked shit, gained fan's applauses. cut hype promo, slowly built Legacy, was on a mini feud rollercoaster with CM Punk, RAW GM Mike Adamle, then Batista and John Cena (for the WHC of course), sole survivor with Cody, allied with Jericho, and all of a sudden, his cheered heat ended at RAW's before Royal Rumble 09, when he argued with Stephanie. I love this cold headed Randy the most, right before he got psychotic as a super villiain months after.

Cena’s return was the second best Royal Rumble moment ever. (Edge’ 2020 return is the first). Cena up to this point was a huge star. Became the biggest rising star in 2004-2005 (along side Randy Orton and Batista). Became the face of the WWE at WrestleMania 21 (along side Batista), has the best wrestling feud in 2006 (with Edge), and went GOD Mode in 2007 (arguably the best year of his career where he was the best professional wrestler in North America). His returning run was really great, but wasn’t really compatible with the years he had previously. Overall, I think 2004-2008 was the best run of his career (his 2014-2018 one is close second). And he easily cemented himself as one of the most iconic legends in all of WWE.
