Sabu had so much potential, his gimmick and look are amazing, he has legitimate technical wrestling experience - he just couldn’t get out of his own way and he didn’t want to cooperate with big promotions - no compromise with him. He didn’t actually botch as much as people like to say he did - the problem was that he built matches to crescendo on those big moves like the triple-jump to the outside, but those are the most difficult moves with so many variables - if the rope is slippery, if the chair is janky, etc - he would mess up at the most noticeable times. He didn’t ALWAYS botch but when he did, EVERYONE would know about it because the match itself would have to stop until he did it right - that was really Sabu’s problem with botching. He should’ve relied more on his technical abilities, break up the big spots with mat-based stuff. Imagine a more technical Sabu vs Bret Hart circa 1996. WWF needed heels and he would’ve been a perfect wildman/foreigner gimmick to take on the smaller top guys like Bret and Own Hart and Shawn Michaels. There’s a niche there he could’ve filled, Mick Foley rode that wave. Why not Sabu?

Not wrong. As far as I can tell, on PPVs, his botch ratio is lower than his TV-taping/live-event ratio, it seems

RVD (who was the top champion in the company) turned 40 that year, Kurt Angel turned 42, Sabu is a year older than Scorpio, Mick Foley & Scorpio are the same age, the Dudley Boyz were each almost 40, and Sting is way older than Scorpio, Sting turned 51 that year, and TNA also let Ric Flair wrestle. there was a storyline in 30 rock where jane krakowski's character signs on to star in (and i think) produce a janis joplin biopic. but they're unable to acquire the rights to her music or even to her life story (i think another studio buys them before they can and that studio makes a janis joplin biopic with an actual legitimate actress like meryl streep). they still make the movie tho about "jenis japlin" (or something like that) and use music that's similar but not so similar that they'd get sued

At 04:00: yes, I remember _Two of Us_ , the VH-1 flick about Lennon/McCartney. 😆 And yeah, that was SNL that did that sketch. Alan Cumming was hosting and played McCartney with Fallon playing Lennon. ALSO (19:00): it's jarring seeing *any* footage of New Jack after his _Dark Side of the Ring_ episode.

Johnny Swinger is STILL in Impact, still wrestling at a fairly decdnt level and he's got a really good theme song, to me at least. I want to see Impact and AEW start crossing over talent so we can get Swinger vs Dustin in a "We shouldn't still be wrestling at this age, but we are and we're killing it." Match.
