Kevin Owens has been wrestling for 17 years and at one point wasn't able to pay heat for his wife and son during the winter time because he wasn't earning that much when first starting out. WCW took ONE LOOK at Oldberg and thought "This guy is money! Let's push him to the top immediately!" and this was while Goldcunt was ALREADY MAKING A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY from his football career. Oldberg got pushed despite RUINING BRET HART'S CAREER.

Hey Brian, Josterio here. First off, Thank you and Steve and Larson for great interviews back at No Mercy, alot of my friends got jealous that I got to meet their favorite youtubers (including myself). Anyway. I like how all these things got blown off on Fastlane (I thought Fastlane was okay) Roman beating Braun, Charlotte losing her PPV streak (It was too predictable if it stayed alive to Wrestlemania) and Kevin Owens losing the title. I find it better then seeing them fight at Wrestlemania. If Roman is facing Taker, then him beating Braun is a start. But I do have two questions Brian, Why is it that Part timers don't get heat for getting championships when it should go to young guys who put in the effort and worked their asses off, but only to get shelved for later? Believe me, I actually am glad Goldberg won, but if Brock wins, like he did back before Wrestlemania, he barely should up to any Raws, and didn't even defend his title at the Pay-Per-Views leading up to Mania 31, what are the odds of that happening at leading up to this year SummerSlam?
@lukas187x8 жыл бұрын
I will give the same grade as well. The Cruiserweight match really blew me away, and that will be a big up in my books. Sami Zayn vs Samoa Joe can always be counted on to be good, and as much as I wanted to see Zayn win, I accept that Joe needed the win more. And despite the negative reception of Reigns, the hard fought win against Strowman is actually step in the right direction. I have nothing against Reigns winning, but I stressed that it has to be a hard fought win, which it is. The rest of the show seems to highlight quite a few flaws within the WWE product that a lot of critics have pointed out (inconsistent booking decisions, heavy reliance on part timers, backstage politics, etc). Personally, I think this is becoming a serious issue that the WWE must address, and soon. The talents of the cruiserweights are wasted on the pre-show, Rusev takes another step into "chump" territory, messy booking for the women's division, and putting the belt on a part-timer who has not wrestled over 5 minutes in the ring. Not exactly the kind of product you want fans to invest in, if you ask me. Overall, I give it a C-, but only cause of the three highlights I mentioned prevented the rest of the show from being a stinker.
@metalhead527488 жыл бұрын
I don't mind some predictability if it makes sense. If they saved bayley beating charlotte at mania for the title for the first title (instead of on raw) and breaking her streak there, yes it would have been predictable but it would have been a great moment.

I disagree with the Jericho point. Sure, we from the outside thinking about it know that Jericho vs Owens will be a Wrestlemania match but let's go inside for a second. In the TV world of the WWE, can Jericho just decide that he will face the champion at Wrestlemania? No. It would be either someone with a rematch clause or whoever the number one contender is or the GM would make a tournament or appoint someone. In the logic of the show, the way for Jericho to make sure he can face Owens is to make him lose the belt.
@johnnapier88308 жыл бұрын
Jean-Francois Charbonneau Finally, someone said something that makes sense.

You know what's not gonna make any sense is that Owens probably won't even get a rematch witch won't be anything new because the last title he dropped the IC belt he never got a rematch after losing that title either. Can't count extreme rules when he was in a fatal 4 way for the IC title that was like 60 days after he dropped it witch trumps the whole within 30 days one on one rematch clause.

Are we just gonna ignore how bad this makes the entire roster look when one of the best guys, who's been protected pretty well, gets squashed by a 50 year old that can't wrestle? I mean seriously, this hurts Owens so badly, that reign wasn't great and this ending makes him look so bad. I might be a huge fan of his, but he's unbelievable as anything more than mid card at best now.
@wisewolftony8 жыл бұрын
If your a fan of Owens then you know that he can bounce back from anything. I mean to begin with Lesnar lost to Goldberg pretty much just as fast and that was with no Jericho distraction. Not saying the lose doesn't hurt him but very few people will even be talking about it once his feud with Jericho starts. Plus the next time they want to push him into the main event scene they could easily just turn him face with the fans fully behind him.
@mavdj8 жыл бұрын
To me its noncanon so it never happened. Kinda like goofy shit at house shows ;) It was just a pointless cash grab for the dumb nostalgic marks. Its fucking hilarious because its the same marks that buu Roman yet they cheer for the original Roman Reigns, Goldberg haha! This "comeback" and transitional title win are meaningless, pointless, and to me they never happened. At least we know we are getting a good match out of this at Wrestlemania with KO vs Y2J.
@pinealdreams10648 жыл бұрын
Does that mean Lesnar's also a mid card guy now? Don't be an idiot, dude.
@wisewolftony8 жыл бұрын
mavdj My problems with it really have nothing to do with the match or who won although off course the last thing I wanted to see was Owens just eat two moves and lose the match regardless of the fact that they tried to protect him somewhat by having Jericho come out. My problems are gonna be with everything that happens after this. Like for example how are they gonna work around Owens probably never getting a rematch and even if he did who wants to see him get squashed again and look even weaker in the process. Then the next thing is shouldn't Owens be fucking livid with HHH. As he was the one that we all figure told Owens to turn on Jericho witch resulted in Jericho being the one to cost Owens the title. Like why would Owens believe in a single word HHH says after that and possible work alongside him. Like if they were smart he would have turned on Jericho either after he helped him retain yet again or after he dropped the belt. Then why wouldn't also Owens question HHH as to why they didn't make sure Jericho couldn't get involved or why did they have to make Foley tell Samoa Joe not to get involved in the match when they have shown no signs of those two working together beside Joe helping HHH with Rollins. Really those things are all gonna be hard for me to look past unless they somehow come up with some good explanation but seeing how Raw creative save for the Festival of Friendship have been pretty terrible so I have no faith in them to even bring up any of these things that should be addressed.
@Ulikecookies8 жыл бұрын
Pineal Dreams seriously. I can't believe some of these people. While yes it SUCKED to see Kevin lose, it goes like this. Kevin had the perfect plan, then called for the bell to ring, he is DISTRACTED by Chris Jericho whom we haven't seen since the festival of friendship. Turns around and hit with two of the most powerful kayfabe moves in Wwe/wcw history Goldbergs spear and the jackhammer. I mean Jesus at least he didn't just spear and win. No. KEVIN WAS DISTRACTED!

Hey Mr. Zane, the cruiserweight tag match wasn't just thrown together. Meaning Swann and Dar. You said they didn't have any feud or anything, but that seems to expose that you do not watch 205 live. Swann and Dar have been back and forth on 205 with Swann making passes at Alicia Fox and saying she couldn't handle it, upsetting Dar. So there's a little history. Next time, either watch 205 live or do some research. No offense, but that wasn't a throw away match. They deserve a little more.

I watched the PPV on Monday (as a European working on Mondays its near impossible to watch any WWE events live) and when it reached the Owens - Goldberg match I moved the cursor at the bar to see how long it had before it ended. Seeing KO entering the arena 9-10 minutes before the end really spoilled it for me since I knew something will happen making Goldberg finish the match in a couple of minutes. Even if he is 50 years old, even if he haven't actually wrestle for almost 15 years, I can't believe that Goldberg can't compete in a match longer than a few seconds. I didn't have a huge problem with this show. It was a bit odd with the booking choices, especially the ending to the Women's Title match, but the saving graces of this show were as you said the Cruiserweight Championship match and Roman v. Strowman. Sami Zayn v. Samoa Joe was pretty good as well. As for Goldberg walking away with the title... well, I'm interested to see what they do with it going into WrestleMania.

Something people neglect mentioning when talking about Reigns winning is that after Braun kicks out after the first spear, Reigns gave an amazing shocked look. It looked like Reigns really didn't know how to defeat Strowman. That's really good story telling and makes me think Strowman will still be dominant going forward. And everybody needs to remember this when Kurt Angle comes back. If he beats a young star, then fans have to remember they asked Kurt Angle to come back, and WWE simply gave them what they wanted. Same idea with the Hardys if they come back, and maybe CM Punk if he ever comes back, which he probably won't.

Soooooo... were they planning to have like an actual match between KO and Goldberg and then they threw it out at the last minute for the squash and that's why they suddenly had half an hour to fill? Is that why the "bonus matches" and the New Day promo?

Enzo has no offense. That's the joke. Big Cass always takes the pin. That's the bigger joke. Sasha is half Nia's size but rolls her up. That's the biggest joke. BTW, I like the red and purple color changes, Brian.

BZ, just wanted to say that I thought the mashup was good for a first try :) I think it was fitting for KO for what it is worth. I felt like if he came out to a more polished version of that mashup, it would do him justice and make him a more fearsome wrestler.

I'm happy that you pointed out how illogical Jericho was. Everyone seems to forget that. Also, Folley telling Joe not to get involved in the main event when they've made no reference to them being teammates? I'm looking ahead thinking Raw will have no world champion for 4 months while Owens & Bálor are waiting for their rematches....

Like you and many others, Brian, I thought for sure that the Women's Title match would end in DQ once Sasha & Charlotte got into their mini-brawl on the outside, but karma ending aside, the fact that the PPV streak wasn't kept intact was surprising to me since Mania is only four weeks away. As for Goldberg/Owens, I think we all saw the writing on the wall with the title change and Jericho's interference, but only 22 seconds?! C'mon man!

Don't apologize for the mashup, for trying something new, just because it wasn't perceived as good as other mashup youtubers who are professionals doesn't mean you can't try something you have interest in. My thoughts: Zayn vs Joe: good, clean fun, Joe got over and is making ways to establishing himself as a real force, Zayn got over by being Zayn, an underdog. Nothing too special, but still quite fun. Club vs Enzo/Cass: good stuff but I have seen it so many times, its hard to care. Finish was cool but happened too quickly so no one seemed to see it. Shame Enzo just gets all the heat and then gives it to Cass, priming Cass to be rammed down our throats. Nia vs Sasha: again, who cares? Seen it before, shame Nia lost though, makes the build for her to seem rather pointless. Cesaro vs Jinder/Rusev vs Big show: I don't care, no one else cares. Which is a shame, everyone here is very talented, even Jinder, they all deserve better. Neville vs Gallaher: fucking great, match of the night, playing to their strengths, actually had a story, instead of movesvmovesmovesmoves no sell movesmovesmoves. Best cruisermatch yet, by far. Roman vs Braun: great match, for me personally at least. The end pissed me off though, Roman no sold, again. And why build this guy up just to have him job to Reigns? Bayley vs Charlotte: Meh, nothing much here re- wait wtf they broke the streak at this nothing B- level PPV?!?!? What a fucking waste! KO vs Goldberg: sigh... Usual Raw PPV, good wrestling ruined by an awful creative team.

Proof that no one will EVER be satisfied in the IWC. Goldberg's first WWE run: "Eeehhhh they don't know how to book Goldberg! He needs to be in decisive squash matches because that's how you give him value! These matches take too long and he lost one of them eeeehhhh!" Goldberg's second run: "Eeeeehhh Goldberg is making other wrestlers look bad and he's past an arbitrary age I've decided is too old for the wrestlers I hate eeeeeeehhh." Christ. Just... Christ. I'm no huge WWE fan, but it really seems like some people won't accept anything they do.

I thought it was appropriate that Jericho interrupted the way he did. KO's entire Universal Title Run, even beginning with how he got the belt, was through outside interference and interruptions. Triple H interrupted to give KO The win, Jericho interfered numerous times to KO's advantage, and his last title defense against Reigns ended with Strowman interfering which lead to KO retaining yet again. So KO casting Jericho aside like "I don't need you anymore" repeatedly stroking his own ego for weeks on end, talking up how much of a badass he is and underestimating Goldberg a guy who can destroy people in two moves, only to be interrupted by the guy he casted aside and helped him defend the title several times before AND christened KO's run as a dual run(ya know We are the Universal Champion stuff that Jericho was doing for a time). Maybe it's just me but this seems like the most appropriate thing in the world for Jericho to do.

Roman winning against Braun gives him great momentum ahead of a match against Undertaker because he would look stupid coming into it off a loss, however if he faces ANYONE bar Undertaker then it's a terrible decision.
@lowercaserho8 жыл бұрын
On predictability vs surprise: I think that if a story has reached a point when something seems like a foregone conclusion, then they've already messed up and it doesn't matter how they end it. If I feel that I already know the result -- and I mean know, not just "I'm pretty sure" -- then I stop caring about the match. I remember back when Lesnar broke the Undertaker's streak at Wrestlemania, I was thinking to myself, "yes, yes, F5, then Taker kicks out just before 3, seen this before". Then when he didn't kick out, I wasn't shocked or amazed or anything else. I just thought "Oh. That happened." because I was already preconditioned to not actually care about the match because the result seemed so inevitable. Just give me a build which pushes both wrestlers so that I actually feel like both of them have a shot at winning. Maybe it can be a long shot for one of them, but it has to feel like a shot. If there isn't a shot, if there doesn't feel like there's uncertainty, then I've no reason to care. And if I don't care going into the match, then all the swerves and shock endings in the world aren't going to make me care.

Question: Has the Universal Championship match had a match without outside interference since Summerslam?
@VinceOMGZ8 жыл бұрын
On the subject of predictability: Nothing that happened was especially unpredictable, and to that extent, predictability isn't the problem. Rolling out the expected finish a month before everyone else expects it to happen isn't the same as being unpredictable. They're blowing their big moments too soon and gaining very little for it.

Nia needed another win over sasha on a main card. Braun needed a victory over Roman on PPV. Charlotte's streak shoulda been ended at mania. Rusev shoulda submitted Big Show. KO shoulda found a way to defeat Goldberg to cement the return of his super heel character. FASTLANE was tragic.
