As much as you hated the Piggy James story, imagine it from the perspective of being an overweight teenage girl with body issues. I disliked this storyline then, and time hasn't softened my view on it. Especially in conjunction with the constant berating of Vickie Guerrero, ( who also wasn't particularly overweight) it's cringe. It's also a bit telling that this is what they come up with for some of their best female workers.

@ReflectionOfPerfection3 жыл бұрын
Set women's wrestling back 5 years not only because the "divas" were borderline useless but as Alisha mentioned, any young girl with body issues would be turned off that not only did Mickie get called fat when she wasn't, but Laycool didnt really get their proper comeuppance from Mickie. Ironically McCool left WWE when she got creamed by Kharma...good luck making fun of HER weight.
@Thecallmemisterajp3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t have minded Piggy James as much if Mickie didn’t cry, which implicitly validated the taunts. Have her be strong and either say something back, or at least have her trying to get revenge, but get frustrated. They book like this and wonder why their baby faces don’t connect like they used to.
@gst0133 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's about validating it...it's about realism and making the bullies effective. Breaking someone down emotionally is exactly what this kind of thing is about. The crowd was pretty hot for it after all the disgusting stuff the writing staff had dreamed up here, and the goal seemed to be getting Laycool over rather than Mickie, anyways.

@@kenterminateddq5311 Probably because the Alexa/Nia thing didn't get the same kind of screen time and wasn't as over the top. The Piggy James angle was defined by endless segments with all kinds of ridiculous props and gimmicks added to make it as in your face as possible. Plus the fact that Mickie James was clearly not remotely overweight, just not super skinny and it's really common for women to have body image issues for supposedly not being thin enough even when their weight is perfectly healthy, so targeting her for that is extra aggravating. The Alexa/Nia thing doesn't really have that same uncomfortable feeling to it because Nia is actually huge, which doesn't mean it's okay IRL to taunt her about it or anything but helps make it feel more like it's purely fictional whereas the Mickie James thing feels like the company trying to shit on her for real (which it probably was to at least some extent).

Why the hell didn’t Punk last longer, that was brilliant to just cut a sermon during the goddamn Royal Rumble. They should’ve had him be in the top 5 and put over how slimy he was during the whole match...god 2010 WWE sucked.

After Mania 26, everything sucked. At least the Road to Mania was good. As for Punk it was great for how long he lasted because he couldn't preach through the whole Rumble. He was the first part and that was good while it lasted.

Edge is a extremely underrated legend by a lot of wrestling "historians" Edge is in the top 20 greatest WWF/E wrestlers of all time simply because of his achievements/accomplishments, being the most decorated wrestler in WWF/E history, being part of one of the greatest tag teams, having countless of great matches, being one of the best talkers and in ring workers ever, being over with most fans since his brood days as both face and heel and paving the way for MITB cash ins which have tremendously helped the careers of Punk, Bryan, Rollins and Miz and possibly Big E and others to come as long as MITB exists All this makes Edge in at least the top 20 greatest WWF/E wrestlers of all time. I think some people overlook what impact edge's legacy has had on future guys like Punk, Bryan, Miz and Rollins and how much he actually accomplished and how many outstanding matches his actually been in. Look at edge's track record of his matches. Most of them from 2000-now are either good to great. He rarely had stinkers If that first MITB cash in on cena at NYR2006 flopped and MITB was a one time thing. Bryan would of never won a MITB match, cash in on big show, turn heel and start the YES chants that got him over. See what I mean, Edge's lasting impact helped Bryan's career. People overlook that thinking Edge never impacted the business Heck, Edge is still having outstanding matches, feuds and promos to this day. Not top 10 or 15 but his arguably top 20. Only reason Edge gets overlooked is because Edge did most of it in the mid-late 2000s. If edge did all this in the 90s or 80s. Probably wouldn't be overlooked.

My thoughts on Mickie vs Michelle: I agree, it WAS a good payoff. But then they kept it going and Mickie immediately dropped the title back so it's almost like it really didn't matter. And in a way that could almost be said about a lot of this event. Christian defends the ECW title against Ezekiel Jackson only to lose it to him a few weeks later and the title immediately becomes defunct. Undertaker defends his title only the lose it the next pay-per-view the next month (though it did plant the seeds for him vs HBK so take that as you will.) Edge comes back as a babyface after being a heel for 5 years with fans on his side and wins the Royal Rumble only to lose the match at the grandest stage and mere months later he's back to being heel. Even CM Punk's great heel work being in the SES is disappointing to see knowing the society will be done in a few months because Serena didn't dare reflect the character she was on screen in real life. That's my take, but I can still certainly see why you still enjoy this show.

2010 was the year of change where both Triple H and Undertaker would become part time, ppv names have changed, sheamus and the miz being champion, nexus coming in and getting wasted lasting about a year, the year also not gave any decent matches of note apart from undertaker vs shawn Michaels Also mr mcmahon won the ecw title in 2007 not 2008

I do like the slight parallels between Shawn Michaels 2010 obsession with The Undertaker and 2018 Cena with his desire to make it to WM, which ended up with him obsessing over having a match with Undertaker to get him on the WM card.
