I nearly chocked on my soda when he said that caffeine was toxic to almost all species. Then I began to wonder if my carbonated and caffeinated sugary beverage would be considered a biological WMD in this universe. 🤣
@GrigoriZhukov4 ай бұрын
Yes, it is also toxic to many animals on earth. Thus our 12 on the rating scale.

Many of these secondary compounts, produced by the secondary metabolism of plants, fungis, bacteria.g., are involved in communication between as example plants or produced, to kill your neighbour, so they can grow there instead, or to repell or kill these, wo try to eat them. Alkaloids like Caffeine, Nicotine, Cokaine, Atropine, Ephedrine e.g. are all produced to repell these, who want to eat them. Humans are able to consume these in low amounts, in very high amount, these will still kill us. 6 belladonna cherries and an adult will get in trouble (Atropine). And there are more than enough secondary compounts, produced by plants, which will kill a human very fast, also these are regular used as drugs/medicine, opioids, used as chemotherapeutica (Taxol/Paclitaxel). And just think of all of the antibiotics, regular produced by bacteria (and few by fungi). Also these are secondary compounds.

A great story. Great humour. I too love the idea of a planet out there that smells like coffee and chocolate.

Finland - the country with the highest consumption of coffee per capita. Switzerland - the country with the highest consumption of chocolate per capita. Mexico - the country producing the Habanero. Denmark - The country with the lowest amount of lactose intolerance. So yes - Earth is a death world to aliens.

And thats how rumors started spreading across the galaxy, that half-sleeping humans can turn into vampires... Great story from the Amiya-verse! I really appreciate how WRickWrites brings the science into these (scifi)stories, that makes it much more interesting than any ordinary space battle.

I really enjoy @WRickWrites-qy8pq stories. They never disappoint. I even subscribed to his channel as soon as it was up. However one of the big reasons I like your channel above others is not just the stories but the AI voices you use to tell the stories. I don’t like the voice he uses to narrate the stories on his channel so it’s made them hard to listen to on his channel. I hope he will consider changing the AI narration voice on his channel. It in my opinion it may help make the stories more enjoyable for the listeners to listen to.

liking u/rRickwrites. honestly even these ai voices, make his stories a whole lot more enjoyable, without it its one of those stories where it dosen't click for me. noticing that the ai image generator you use, loves big ol circles of people standing around. also aliens that are either unimaginative, or humans with small added feature. this is one of the few times i actually like ai images, outside of just screwing around and deleting. been enjoying this channel.

Interesting tidbit from Organic Chemistry. The chemical structure of Caffeine (C8H10N4O2) and the the primary active ingredient in Chocolate, _Theophylline,_ (C7H8N4O2) differ by one molecule of Carbon and two Hydrogen.

Remember; it took at least 30 million years after the first trees evolved for something else to evolve a way to destroy wood cells. This is why coal is always found in layers deposited about 300 million years ago; it is the fossilized remains of 30 million years of fallen trees that never rotted or decomposed because they couldn't. So the story of the Yuenkei is not so unbelievable.

Just to put things in perspective the chemical arms race between insects and plants is longer by far than the entirety of the existence of mammals. I'm unsure of exactly when plants began to tame insects into being their zexual go between and as a reward get food for doing so.

Great story, but I'm interested more in their biology, one single individual made it to the mainland and from it descended all the separate species of animal life. One. Not a pair, one. Was it pregnant, did it's progeny mate with each other or the parent, do they clone or bud or use some other form of parthenogenesis? how does this work?
