Man. This is like watching 1 to 1 experience of when I discovered sleep token. You get it. And the songs you've listened to are just the tip of the iceberg. If you love lyrics, Vessel is maybe the best and the three albums (Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, Take Me Back to Eden) tell a story, one that's about love and devotion to a person, a thing, or an idea I think based on your reactions so far it's almost a certainty you'll want to dive deep into this band, so starting at the beginning of Sundowning might be the best experience for you. And it also will illuminate how the band's sound has changed over the years

If you love lyrics, this is the band for you. Vessel is a musical genius, especially lyrically. Ascensionism and Take Me Back to Eden are masterpieces. Be careful with lyric videos out there though. I've seen very few with the correct lyrics posted.

I think for many it's the emotional authenticity that pulls you in, both lyrically and in the execution. Each song is a very particular emotion we've all felt at some point distilled into words and music that resonates in a communal way; you recognize it and it unlocks a gate we usually keep closed so you can feel that again for a short time. That's why the 'worship' tagline fits, even if it's meant in a half-tongue-in-cheek sense. We've all felt what it is to be human, no matter what caused our pain, but for a few minutes we're all feeling the same thing. It's a communion of existence itself in all its messy glory.

Loving watching you totally falling for Sleep Token like the rest of us, lol. No gatekeeping from the ST fans here! You ever get the chance to attend a Ritual, I highly urge you to do so. It's amazing. I attended in Philly last May, and everyone was just so...welcoming. My daughter got to go over to England to the Leeds Ritual as well and said it was the same. ST fans are different...in the best way. Also, I think the description you're looking for when talking about the way Vessel writes and sings his songs...is that he's authentic. It's not forced, played, faked...anything. He's just...authentically authentic, lo.

Yes, you really get it. All of their songs are coming from a place of honest emotion and real life events. I love hearing not only your analysis of the music but also the way it makes you feel. The singer is the one that writes the songs the drummer also adds to it but mostly the singer. He is a master Pianist as well, you can hear more piano in some of his songs but he does not show off his skills in any of the songs he only does what is appropriate for the song, they really put a lot of thought and love into the writing just like your band does, that is why I love your band as much as Sleep Token.🎶🎹🎸❤

I am so happy for you that you are getting to experience ST! I wish I was able to experience them for the first time again. Normally, when I suggest ST to people that haven’t heard them before I give them a list of songs to listen to, in order, before diving deep into them. Heck! I’ll give you the list whether or not you follow it lol. These are the songs I recommend listening to, in order, to get a true understanding of what you’re going to get yourself into: - their cover of “Hey Ya”. It might sound weird the first time or even second time you listen to it but once you get the original OutKast version out of the way, you’ll never be able to listen the original the same again. - “Descending” - “Gods” - “Take Me Back to Eden” Doing this ensures that you will get to hear most of what they have to offer in terms of style, approach, vocals, etc and it takes you on a neat little journey. After listening to those 4 songs, start at the very beginning of their discography and listen to all of their songs in order because their 3 albums are a trilogy and tell a complete story from song 1 on the “Sundowning” album to the very last song of the “Take Me Back to Eden” album. Also, your band sounds awesome and I’m going to continue diving into your stuff 🤘

There is a cinematic quality to Sleep Token...an overarching story behind their music and you can feel a natural ebb and flow throughout their albums. I've enjoyed your reactions to both this and The Summoning--and there's nothing wrong with nerding out over it. I listened to a handful of your songs, and I think you will find a lot of things to like about Sleep Token. I would say there are more than a few of their songs that venture into the territory that your band is exploring. Speaking of which, I really enjoyed what I heard from City of Sound...I really liked 'Odyssey' (this seems to me to be a superb introduction to your band) and I'm absolutely adoring the very powerful '...but one ghost' (for real, this song is amazing and I've listened to it several times over already...and I will definitely check out the rest of your catalogue). Anyways, back to Sleep Token...they aren't afraid to explore different genres. However, to me, it doesn't feel forced...it feels like they are simply going where the story and the songs want to go. I'm going to throw a couple of possibly unorthodox Sleep Token song suggestions for you to check out. 'Take Aim' will show you a very different side of Sleep Token that I think you will really enjoy (especially having gotten a slight taste of what you and your band are creating). I also recommend 'The Love You Want'...I feel the video for this track is a great introduction to the visual aesthetic of this band...also, it's just a wonderful video, and it may even surprise you with the direction it goes (when I first saw this video, I barely knew ST, and after seeing it, I knew I had found something special).

Yes he was done dirty or at the very least had his heart ripped from his chest and stomped on. They have 3 albums. All 3 combined feel and sound like the process in which you go through when you have had your heart broken and the mental tramua one can endure. And yes its clear he was very infatuated with this girl. Ironically some super slueths have found videos of a couple who had a band/duo several yrs ago. People have speculated that its (Vessel) the Singer of Sleep Token and the women who everyone thinks the albums are about. We dont know if its really him because they keep their identities secret but its very probable you can hear his voice inflections and they are very very similiar.

I can't comment about driving through Indiana at night because that's something I've never done, but everything else? Very hard relate! Also, because I'm not a musician, I really appreciate the explanations you've given us about using analogue, etc. The layered vocals are all Vessel's own and he uses all the instruments except drums, which are the territory of II (two), their drummer (but when touring/playing live dates there are other band members). All of the lyrics are written by Vessel, too, except where they are co-written by II. But I'm a bit confused. What happened to the rest of your review of Chokehold? Don't get me wrong, I appreciated your own musical interlude and it reminded me to add you to my Spotify list, but I was stumped when the review disappeared. I'd also say that, before you do go into any more Sleep Token deep-dives, please do have a read into their Lore. I think you'll find it interesting. And please also consider going back to the start of their discography, because their three albums tell a story and it's always best to start a story from the beginning isn't it? Unless you're one of the strange people that start a book by reading the last page first...I mean, if that's your thing then that's OK, but with Sleep Token it's always a plan to start from the start and take it in chronological order. Their music is all so very special to so many people - there are countless numbers of people that have been helped by the music because they were able to interpret it into their own stories and it's possible to read from so many how the words and music have succeeded in taking them from the darkest places possible and literally saving their lives. ❣Worship❣
