While giving gifts to others - we can all remember to give ourselves a little more love, and it doesn't have to cost anything. We asked strangers on the street to write a love letter to themselves. Why don't you try it!

The woman that said, "Why did I agree to this?" I think had the most to say. I thought she said that comment as a way to say, "I don't know what the hell to write!" but was pleasantly surprised when she knew exactly what she was going to say, but had had a hard time just figuring out how to say it. Hers was beautiful. "I think we should make a date, to at least once a week have a cup of tea together." Beautiful. :)

Dear Holli, I know that life hasn't turned out the way we planned. We don't have that College Degree, or that awesome world saving job, we aren't married or have those kids we planned on. Life really hasn't been that easy for us, and I know lately your confidence and sense of self has been shaken. So I wanted to let you know, I see you. I see what an amazing and ambitious woman you are. I see how stubborn you are and how hard you work to not let your past define you. And I admire you so much. You have so much potential and so much to give. Those voices that are telling you that you will always be a victim and that you are worthless are so not true. This is an assignment I always give my writing/English students on Valentine's Day and they find it SO difficult!!!! This year I'm going to show this video before I give the assignment.

After a team conference call today, our take away 'homework' assignment for the week from our boss was to write ourselves a love letter. We have a motivational coach working with our team during this quarantine and he created the 'operation love letter' initiative. Although I fancy myself a decent writer, I immediately had a mind blockage and conducted a google search to get inspiration for how to start a love letter to myself. I was lucky enough to stumble on this video and I have watched it a few times over the course of my lunch break, sobbing the entire time. This really hits in the feels. It's a good perspective for someone like me, who came to the table to write about myself, but immediately could not because I thought the worst of myself. The lady who talked about having tea with herself; Early on when she acknowledged that she does not show herself the same compassion and love that she may show others, hit home. It's a great reminder that love begins within. Beautiful video, job well done for sure.

Writing a love letter to yourself, great way to be sure of what you like about you and what needs some work. Makes you think what would you like for others to apreciate about yourself. Those things you know are important to you help you figure out what kind of people you want around.

Hey Soulpancake! I found this video the other day and suggested it for our class activity. Everyone thought it was strange at first, and even stranger when we asked them to read it out loud. Regardless, we made everyone read their letters. Even our homeroom teacher. It made us know our classmates better and brought happiness and laughter in our class. It made us realize that we really do have to love ourselves and the activity made us aware of who we really are. It brought out both smiles and tears and realizations. It's our last activity as a class since we're approaching summer vacation already, and I have got to say it was one of the most memorable moments of my life! Thank you so much for giving me the idea and bringing our class closer. :)

SoulPancake guys,you always come up with amazing ideas which don't really sound new but are really needed. If everyone could write a letter to themselves, put everything on the paper, so then they know what exactly are they thinking right at that point of time about themselves. It's like watching other people's problems from your point of view and thinking that it wasn't a big deal. If one put their problems on the paper, it'd be like watching others problems and chilling out for yourself, though trying to fake a little bit of concern doesn't cost. This would always keep oneself grounded.

I started to do this almost 4 years ago when my heart been broken for the first time... I read those letters just last week and the feeling was awesome. Writing love letters or letters to yourself is really helpful.

I have the vague feeling I've written a love letter for myself like ten years ago, when I was finishing my teen years. I don't quite remember, but I feel like I have. I should do it again. This is such a great idea. I've written letters to myself in prayers, journals, and things like that, and they do tend to be more self-hurting and contemplative than anything. It's an interesting concept to view yourself as someone else and to think of what you love about THAT person. I might try this. It may start out my new year right. :)
