Shoutout to Brian’s mention of an ultrasonic cleaner at 8:48. I have one for cleaning small music instrument parts, and out of desperation I tried it out on a FP when my father-in-law gave me his Mont Blanc 144 that he was given as a high school graduation gift. He last remembered using it in 1981, so it’d been sitting in his desk, full of Quink, for 37 years. After a few hours buzz-buzz-buzzing around in diluted GP pen wash for a few hours, it was clean as a whistle!

If Jenn really wanted to make points with the boss, she should have dyed her hair with Liberty's Elysium. 😉 As for shimmer inks, I bought a bottle of Diamine Lilac Satin after getting a thank you card with it, and it's very nice and functioned well. I then bought a bottle of Diamine Caramel Sparkle and it was disastrous, with so much gold material it plugs my pens. I think the sparkle wasn't fine enough and there was too much in the bottle. I also bought Emerald of Chivor and wasn't that impressed, so I don't use it either. That's the end of my sparkle experiments, and I will just stick to inks with nice shading.

I really wish these could be longer I could listen to the whole crew just ramble about pens for hours a podcast would be amazing but I know you guys are stretched for time. I also love the J Herbin 1670 line I have been using emerald of chivor for about 8 months on all sorts of paper I find that sometimes you see for shimmer in cheap paper because it absorbs a lot into one small area that is concentrated.

Caffeole, I agree! I thought about that after the fact and was like, dang! I just talk too much, lol. Luckily, we do have swabs of all the shimmer inks we carry on our website, but yes, I totally meant to write more. Maybe next time, if I get another chance to spread the shimmer love!

Yes please to more Diamine shimmering inks!! One of my favorites so far is Frosted Orchid, the shades of purple and silver are just phenomenal!!! I actually left it in my Pilot VP EF which got lost in my truck for about two months. I used a paper towel to wipe off the nib and it immediately started writing again. I was flabbergasted to be honest. Especially since it tends to clog in my VP broad rather horrible like.

I have the arctic blue. I just fell in love with Diamine Inkvent 2022, Dusty truffle, a taupe with silver shimmer. I am hoping it is released in a larger bottle in the spring. a unique color.

Hi. I have my Platinum Cool fine nib inked up with Diamine Enchanted Ocean. I love both the pen and the ink. Even with a fine nib, I haven't had any clogging or flow issues. And the amount of shimmer is crazy! Yes, with a FINE nib!

In the past, we have made an ink sample package set for each new Shimmertastic line. We're still working on the ink sample package set functionality on the new site (should be soon!) so I think that would be something we'd do if we pick these up! - Colin

I'm definitely interested in the new Diamine Peacock Flare, Dragon Blood and Neon Lime. The whole Range is awesome, but it's definitely starting to get some really close shades. Like I can't tell the difference in the photos between Arabian Nights and Mystique other than the glitter color. Same with Neon Lime and Golden Oasis. Some might love me or hate me for saying this, but I've been experimenting with adding pearlEx fine mica powders to watery inks like Diamine and the results are nearly the same. I have an uneven measuring spoon for the powder so my shimmer ratio is the only variable I haven't dialed in, hence the Nearly part. If Diamine wants to compete and jump an edge in this field of ink, (ocean?) they could do much better with the huge range of colored mica that could be added to inks. I have a Kelly Green ink with Spring Green shimmer. (Only using Jinhao pens in case of clogs or ink freakouts) I'm sure companies like Diamine or DeAtramentis or Colorverse can do better than I can. Copper is just the tip of the colorful powder iceberg. It's actually a huge sparkly glitter mountain anyone who strolls through an art store can see. I hope some company jumps on that to provide more range before this fun fad is gone and done.

Huge fan of shimmer inks in general, and Diamine in particular. (I actually love all Diamine inks--they are my go-to.) I would love for you to have samples of all the new Diamine Shimmers so I can try them out! Also, like Jenn, I rarely have an issue with the shimmer inks clogging my pens. The pen of mine most likely to clog is my TWSBI Diamond 580 AL with a Fine nib. But my Lamys, TWSBI Ecos, Jinhaos, and Noodlers Ahab Flex (all medium or 1.1 nibs) almost never have an issue with the shimmer inks.

Same! Almost all of my inked pens contain the Diamine Shimmertastic range! And I don't really need to clean them much either, I just keep using the same inks in them.

Blurple hair is awesome! My favorite shade of blue is in the middle of your hair, just above the tips. And you can't be 41 --I'd have said 35 at the most. Emerald de Chivor is one of my favorite inks and I have to admit I'm a sucker for shimmer and bling

I use Diamine Shimmering Seas (love this color) in my Twsbi Eco with an extra fine nib. Its only once had a problem with poor flow.

Thanks, Jenn! This makes me re-think shimmer inks. I've stayed away from them because of the whole fear of clogging. I don't even keep the same colour in a pen to avoid washing. I just re-ink the pen and let the colour blend. There's my lazy "hack" for the day!

I once "created" a shimmer ink all on my own, by not cleaning the shimmer ink out well enough and then putting in a new color that wasn't shimmer ... but all of the sudden, it was, lol. I actually really loved the result. :-)

The only shimmer inks I have had luck with is J. Herbin. All others I have had are too much shimmer both in appearance and how it effects flow.

I love the Diamine line of shimmering inks. I find them really well-behaved in the pen; very little clogging. I find I prefer them to the J. Herbin inks (which are also very, very nice).

Yes to shimmer inks. My work daily is still J Herbin Caroube de Chypre. And yes to carrying the new Diamine inks. Overall, I like the J Herbin inks the most when it comes to shimmer brands.

I've had no issues with my Japanese fines and extra fines when it comes to J. Herbin's shimmer inks, they have super fine particulate and still shine through great! However, Diamine has notoriety for clogging my western fines, and I usually have to clean them every 2-4 weeks because they clog. Diamine has some beautiful inks, but sadly the fleck is too big, they really should see if they can get a smaller particulate.

I really enjoy the De Atramentis shimmer inks! My absolute favorite is Cyan Blue-Copper, but Heliogen Green-Copper vies with Brilliant Violet-Copper for second place. It's a beautiful green, and the copper shimmer gives it a little bit of an earthy feel. It's unique and definitely worth trying a sample, in my opinion!

I think of shimmer & glitter inks as being only novelty inks, & will not use them in my pens. I always enjoy the Write Now clips because they are informative & we get to meet members of the Goulet staff. A critique: The automatic focus on the camera didn't seem to be working for this episode; everything was blurry.

Wow...not a lot said about shimmer inks. My take? As the fountain pen flames begin to grow at a rapid rate with younger generations, shimmer inks will stay with them. The only reason I haven't given up on fountain pens (cue U2's...I still haven't found what I'm looking for..) the inks, especially the shimmery ones, are what make me stick around. They are very much here to stay.

Haven't tried shimmering inks yet but I plan to. I write stories and the ink color helps me set the mood for myself. Also, you touched upon this in the video: what "crappy" paper would you recommend for note-taking. I'm at my most creative using a fountain pen, but spending $10.00 on a Rhodia legal pad for brainstorming purposes gets expensive after a while! Love your hair, Jenn!

I love shimmer inks and sparkly inks with my glass dip pen. I especially love the Diamine cocoa ink. I have not tried this ink in my Jinhao Shimmering sands pen. I might if I had a lovely broad tip instead of a medium. :) #teambroadtip #sizematters :)

I enjoyed the way Jenn said “Chivor.” I always pronounced it as “Chivor.” I have three Diamine Shimmer inks that I use in Twsbi 580’s with stub nibs. They’re really nice, but they do tend to gum the feed a bit.
