Brother, thank you. This is the second video I'm watching. I've always liked classical music. Absolutely beautiful the more I learn how music is made the more I appreciate its beauty and the sheer amazing gifting it took to initially create works like this first one played.. looking forward to the rest of the video. Thanks again.

I loved this video, so many beautiful works! I was looking for some progressions in classical music to study and maybe incorporate in my own writing practice.

Although the movie, "The Lone Ranger" with Johnny Depp wasn't quite as good as one would hope, the orchestration of the climax of, "The William Tell Overture", brought out goosebumps.

why do you sometimes write the mode abbreviated under the chord?
@WriteASong6 ай бұрын
That indicates a borrowed chord and the parallel mode it has been borrowed from.

ahh #4 is "Captain Jack - Dream A Dream" .... thanks DDR lol also, thanks for introducing me to "Gymnopedie No.1", it's a lovely sounding piece.
@WriteASong Жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Lol I just listened to Captain Jack. It's amazing how many songs use "In The Hall Of The Mountain King"!
what app is this it loosk like its the same thing as hook theory, and it shows the modes lol which now i understand composers of this era did not really think like this.
@WriteASong Жыл бұрын
Yes it's Hookpad. You're correct about the modes, this is just a simple introduction for people who otherwise might overlook classical music.

7:31 Für Elise also shows up as part of Charlie Burton's song "You're Not Playing Fair, Elise". 9:13 It is literally impossible to misspell Tchaikovsky's name. 11:47 "D Minor, the saddest of all keys." 12:42 Sadly, this urban legend is not true. 13:51 And Victor Borge (comedian/musician) once played it with the sheet music upside down. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIHaf6qEmapqpqc

Didn't many classical composers start out by working out the chord progression of other composers? I seem to remember reading or hearing that Mozart could do this when he was a child. Is this true?
@WriteASong Жыл бұрын
I know that Mozart was a child prodigy, so I imagine this is something he would have done instinctively.

So, how to figure out which scale is used for the chord progressions 🤔

I forgot to include this information, sorry about that.

Ode to Joy should have been No 1. Period. I chuckled at your opening remarks that you would need a music theory degree to understand "Classical Music". I just learned about the Rule of the Octave last month and have gone down the Partimenti rabbit hole. Using my limited knowledge of this I tried to play Prélude in C (again) and found it much easier, and even transposed it instantly into another key. I watched a college professor discuss Bach and he just said that there were things with Bach that couldn't be explained. But a Partimento scholar said that using Roman Numeral Analysis was almost a useless endeavor to understanding what they were doing, and this well into the 19th century. Maybe you should ask Hookpad about that?
