Tony Kakko is a real poet, similar to Tuomas Holopainen, no wonder they are good friends

This is my favourite band. I love these Kings of The North. They are the most humble human beings ever. Tony is extremely underrated as a singer/songwriter and Tommy as a drummer. The band as a whole are fantastic musicians.

I think you missed one little detail: in the beginning he sings "She had found the sails for the following night". Meaning the girl the guy was with *intended to sail away on a ship.* Then he gets beaten and loses a day. Next thing he knows - the ship (that the girl was on) wrecked and everyone died. So. Yeah. That happened. Thank you for the reaction! One of the best SA songs, easily.

Beautiful song and great reaction!! Can't wait for listen to part 2 as well. I don't know if you can find a good live video of it, so maybe it will be better to listen to the recorded version that they have on their channel. It's a shame they don't have that much good quality live video, Tony is so awesome to listen live!!!

Too true! They are great live, but I have not watched many of the yt videos of them, so trying to find the videos to request is a part time job 🤣 I listen to their albums in the car! What do you think of their new album, Clear cold beyond? They are coming to Norway again i September 😊
@user-jy3tp8mh7w8 ай бұрын
@@Helge_Torp i liked the last album a lot! May be recency bias, but it's the first album since reckoning night in which I like all the songs. Pariah's child and the ninth hour were pretty great too but each one has a couple of misses. In all the other albums I liked at least 1 song, but most of them are not as great as the rest of their discography.

"black oceans beneath rise and swallow me". He definitely jumped from the lighthouse, suicide. The last part left out is spoken by a priest, i believe in the funeral of the victims.

Storytelling is important for the album... i think, everyone, who visits their concerts, knows the lyrics, so they can leave the beginning out here. No problem 😄

Great watching you react to this fantastic song. About the part that is left out in the begining, I think it's to accomodate the live format. Also, these live recordings tends to have low volume on the crowd, whom I suspect was singing "I WAS BORN AND RAISED BY THE SEA..." at full power during the intro.
@SaeedReacts.6 ай бұрын
Understandable! Someone pointed out that the fans already know the song so it makes sense to cut a bit for time. The storytelling is next level! Thanks for watching.

Man, I don't know about this song... the story is great, but the melody and the singing is almost like it got random-generated by a D20 on a dare. There are huge moments whithin it, but also unstructured chaos, and I mean that in a bad way. I don't think this is the work of a great lyricist or composer, at least not of one posessing all their mental faculties. It's like a mockery of Dream Theater gone bad, or a severe case of "lead singer syndrome". After listening to "Full moon" and "The power of one" it is very hard to imagine this is the product of the same band... the band is great, this song just isn't even good as a whole(but we could clip short parts of it that ara genial).

The album version is much better. Tony is a bit of a diva on stage, and sometimes his choices just do not work. 😅
@ozwell10887 ай бұрын
You made the mistake of listening to the live version. Never listen to the live version of a song for the definitive version of that song if there is a studio version available. Studio > live. Almost always.

Thank you for acknowledging the opening stanza that the live version skips. It has always bothered me that that part of the plot is skipped in this live video, and that most reactions are oblivious to that verse. IMO, it's a very important part and somewhat ruins the rest piece for it to be omitted. ... "I was born and raised by the sea, Shy yet proud, Learned to stay away from the crowd, In my home my lighthouse, 101 steps round and down, New Years Eve one night in the town, Can change one life into eternity....."
@SaeedReacts.8 ай бұрын
