Thank you for bringing back my favorite interviewer. I've watched each of his interviews multiple times over the years, I can't express how helpful and insightful they are. The Core Wound idea is wonderful to take as a basis for any character, though while I still struggle with making these wounds complex or unique enough, I know where to aim thanks to you - the rest is in the writing. The improvement must come from me.

Take the enneagram. Look at the Fears. Create a childhood memory that developed that Fear. Pick somewhere on the Average level for the character. During the first act have them take a step back to Unhealthy in reaction to your conflict addressing their Fear. Then in the second act have them take two steps up the rung to Healthy. There you go. How to create Wounds, and arcs that show believable growth using them.

I just started screenwriting with others - as a team. And they say I'm great. And, yes, they abused me after the first reads, but hey, they kept saying I'm amazing. You are right. This interviewer seems completely naive and clueless about the Jack Johnson thing. She's like: why did they do that? Why did they feel threatened by him? Why legal issues? Uh, like he said at the beginning, Johnson was black man in the early 20th century who had a lot of success, was dating white women, and not being shy about any of it. Should be glaringly obvious what the issues Johnson was running into were lol.
