I'm in the same boat...Ableton Live 12 didn't incorporate ARA, so I'm done giving them money. They aren't listening to their customers so they're going to lose them. So far, I'm very impressed with Reaper.

Ha! I was so proud when I found this out on my own, two months ago. I made a four band EQ listen to a podcast voice track and duck that frequencies on a music track. Much better than volume ducking, or even Waves Vocal Rider, and free with ReaEQ. Because frequencies in the music on track 2, that are not used by the voice on track 1, play on, you don't have the pumping effect that ducking with gain or compressor will give you. I thought I was brilliant, first time I invented something of my own in stead of following videos of others. But of course all of you reaper experts already thought of this long ago 😀

Haha that's still cool that you got it yourself. None of us invented anything. We just pass on info to each other about using stuff we didn't invent :)

It would be nice to have an envelope for parameter modulation itself. For example tweaking release, strength and so on. Or maybe there is a way already? 🤔

@TaleTN2 жыл бұрын
Very nice! I do use LFO parameter modulation every once in a while, mostly for testing purposes, but sidechain parameter modulation does also seem very useful. BTW, I think just a single click on the control rather than a wiggle should be enough, although this might depend on the plugin.
@IDDQDSound2 жыл бұрын
Haha yeahhh clicking works fine. I'm just anxious af :)
@TaleTN2 жыл бұрын
@@IDDQDSound Actually I was just testing this today, and with VST you can indeed just click, but with CLAP you do have to change the value aka wiggle.

Great video as always. Do you have a video that explains when recording. Hey Matty! I have a video on recording right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHa8pY2hq52datk To answer your first question. You have to pause instead of stop if you wanna start where you were, so that's Control+Spacebar, or you can change it :)

Parameter modulation with eq is effectively a dynamic eq isn't it? A bit of a workaround and it's a lot simpler to just grab TDR Nova, but still, you could set up Rea-eq as a dynamic eq using dynamic modulation of the same track couldn't you? I'm not working in my studio right now, otherwise I'd try it.
@IDDQDSound2 жыл бұрын
It sorta is but not exactly. In a regular dynamic eq, each band "listens" to just its own frequency and respond dynamically. With this setup all bands will listen to the whole signal, so for example, a kick hit on a room mic will still trigger a high band filter. You could sidechain it to a band passed filter, but yeah at that point may as well get tdr nova :)
@Grymt2 жыл бұрын
@@IDDQDSound Oh I don't think that's right. I have every band of rea eq listening to just that frequency on another track. It works smoothly.

do you know how to make mouse modifiers like fl studio and how to glide 808 in midi writing?

gliding is on your VSTi not on the DAW. Mouse modifiers, yes, but you have to be more specific

How do you know when to use reaEQ rather than proQ3?
@IDDQDSound2 жыл бұрын
I use Pro Q3 almost always but in my tutorials I use ReaEQ to look like a man of the people lol! That said, ReaEQ has an all-pass filter which Pro Q3 doesn't so sometimes I use it because of that! :)
