This has a great idea. If someone you know is in the hospital, or sick at home, write them a letter! That would really cheer me up, I know

My elders always wrote the most beautiful letters and I envied them since I wrote poor letters. It's regretful that the art is lost for the most part. Love this video.

"pen and ink..." She means that, literally. Ballpoints were not quite in wide use yet. Our school desks still had inkwells and fountain (later cartridge) pens were still in use. Bic ballpoint pens quickly took over that scene.

Now the only mail one gets is junk mail and bills. The thrill is gone. But I always loved writing letters to friends and I always had plenty to say, just "as if they were here". Who even knows how to write anymore? They dont even teach handwriting in school.

Loved handwriting. Me (and the girls in my class) made it a point to write as pretty as possible. It was the one sure way to be teacher's pet and get lots of "A's"

I'm 18 and I was taught handwriting. It wasn't a graded class or anything, it was just to ensure we were literate.

It's a sad state that people seldom write letters anymore. Emails don't convey the same meaning. And who knows how to write in cursive? Plus the cost of postage.
