If anyone here watched this special in its entirety, you would know why he's a bit morose in this award win. SPOILERS FOR ROTHANIEL The special touches on him finally coming out of the closet to his family and to the world. It was one of the best comedy specials I've ever seen, becoming part comedy special, part therapy session. He reveals that his family (namely his parents) haven't taken the news very well. In this little acceptance vid, you can see that the wounds are still a bit fresh. So, it sucks that he isn't able to truly celebrate this win. But if you want to see someone celebrate their heart out, watch Sheryl Lee Ralph win!! It's very uplifting!!

He was a friend in high school that I use to sing Atlantis Morsette with in US History class. 🤣 We also had drama together for all 4 years. He was always funny AF! The light of the class room and always gave the biggest hugs every single day I saw him! I'm so proud of him for coming up from where we are from to winning an Emmy. His personality now is just like it was back in high school! Hasn't changed. So big congrats! Isn't it ironic.. don't ya think think..? Lmao
