Thank you! I’m really glad you liked it. I felt like I captured the essence of it, and for this journey, it’s imperative that I can do that. Practicing composing in this way I get to put my work out there and see what people think - and get feedback on whether I’m getting it right. So thank you, so much for commenting. ✌️

I f’n loved Fear Factory’s music for Carmageddon. One of the coolest intro videos for a game and i loved it almost as much as the fame itself. Hilarious game and one of the few games i actually bought on CD ROM for Mac back in the days. This is very cool what you’re doing here Jamie!

Hi Ed.! Thank you so much for the support. I love Carmageddon so much. To me, it is exactly what a video game should be. I would get absolutely lost in it. I spent hours on it and never got bored. Did you play it on PC?

I LOVE this game - played the heck out of it back in the day, also have it for the iPad and have played it a ton there. I almost spit my coffee out when I saw the splash image in FB. Good on ya, Jamie - one of these days I'll make it to the UK and we HAVE to grab a drink.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!!!! That would be so awesome! Please do let me know if ever you can make it over. Likewise, if I get to gig out your way any time I’ll let you know. Carmageddon is like great music - it doesn’t take itself too seriously, it’s about entertainment but it’s timeless and has enough mojo to keep you coming back. Not many games do that for me. Have an awesome day my friend!

Well, that certainly was an interesting watch! I grew up playing Carmageddon when it first came out and the original Fear Factory soundtrack is forever engraved into my mind. I'm 36 years old today and still listen to it while working out. You absolutely nailed the style and feel of the soundtrack, well done! Too bad Stainless Games sold the Carmageddon IP (again) to THQ, where it lays dormant for quite some time now, otherwise you could have contributed to a new soundtrack! ;)

If they ever did reboot this game, again, I’d love to be part of making the music. It just means so much to me as a game and as a piece of my history. It’s a shame when sequels don’t live up to the original and what could be a huge franchise just fades away. It would be an honour to be part of bringing it back and I feel like I could make a lot of appropriate music. But for future projects I need to start to show that I can make music in other styles. I’d come back to this in a heartbeat though!

Damn, that title made me think you actually had a commission. Excellent track Jamie that really fits with the game. I loved Carmageddon back in the day, it took up so much of my time. I recognised almost all the locations in your clips. I had hopes for that more modern remake/sequel but it didn't seem to get anywhere. I might get the iOS version if it supports controllers as I don't like on screen controls.

I wish I had! But I need to practice doing this thing so, I think taking an actual game and composing to it is a good way to go. Carmageddon meant a lot to me. I was so unhappy back then when I bought it and it was a great game to play to let off some steam and just get lost in it - and get some anger out! Going back to it was so much fun, you know - great gameplay and humour - absolute carnage! I haven’t played the reboot version but I’ve seen a lot of footage. It looks great but at the end of the day this game is about game play and the original just played so well. I don’t think the new one would run on any system that I have available to me.
@Elwaves292511 ай бұрын
@@JamieMallender Apparently the reboot has terrible performance. I couldn't find the original you mention on the app store so instead I went to to Good Old Games and got Carmegeddon Max Damage. This is the original game but with improvements like graphics etc. It's PC only but it plays great. Maybe that's an option for you if you have a PC and the recommended specs are listed at the bottom of the GOG page. I'd post a link but I'm sure you know how YT is with them. If you go for any version, Max Damage is the one to try. 🙂

What a great feeling it was when the game loaded up and you got that entry and the engines are roaring away ready to go and the countdown comes and you’re just ready for instant mass destruction and senseless violence - therapy with a game controller - captivating gameplay, humour - open worlds and massive levels and Easter eggs. What a game!

I really loved the bit where you mixed mediums (or DAWs I guess?) and brought the handheld into the mix. I used to love doing multitracking in the field using a TRRS-XLR mic pre into a phone app, and I’m glad we’re finally getting some good use out of the horsepower of our little pocket processors. I’ll be honest, my hand slipped while using the flashlight function of my phone, and I clicked this video in my recommended feed. I haven’t visited your channel before. Your straightforward explanations and presentation style (no clickbait title or gasping thumbnail), insane production experience, and DIY creativity kept me hooked. Your work is beautiful, both the audio tracks and your video production. Thanks for sharing your work partner, I hope your effort is rewarded with a continually growing audience, or maybe a VG OST in the future.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice and intelligent comment. I can not abide the gasping thumbnail thing and I hate it when people have obviously watched those, “how to be a KZbinr,” type of videos. I may not be very successful at it but I do it on my terms. Mobile devices have had a lot of power for a long time but now we seem to have reached a point where the software and the peripherals can do justice to their potential. I love the fact that I can be working on a project in the back of a van, in bed, on a plane - and then take it into my studio - my work doesn’t have to stop. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and liked the track. And thank you so much for the words of encouragement. ✌️

Hey, thank you for watching! I was lucky enough to buy the original, uncensored version of the original. It’s amazing how much outrage this game caused. It has been banned, censored, re-released, banned again and in and out of the App Store more times… such a shame - it’s only a game.

Really interesting to watch your process, Jamie! Love the track and especially that Mini Moog growl/scream! I would be particularly interested in seeing a video focussing on the mixing process - taming all that initial chaos into a fantastic metal track.

Thank you Colin. When making a track like this there’s a lot of things I could include in the video and I have to sort of, choose a flavour - what to focus on for that vid. I think mixing the kind of track I make might be a good one for a lot of people because I use a lot of layers of very bold sounding instruments and there’s a nack to getting them all to sit right. Good idea. Thank you and thank you for watching and thank you for the fact that your comments are always intelligent and helpful. ✌️

Hi mate, hope you had a good Christmas with family and friends. Let me start off by saying I am definitely not a gamer never have been so this is all just based on observation . Your composition sounds brilliant . However for me there seems to be a disconnect between the music and the game. I don’t know how you would do this with a game like this, but the music doesn’t seem to be part of or following the game. How can I put this? It’s like they are two different entities. just feels like someone like me coming along putting onACDC thunder struck and using that as the music for the game. Does that make any sense not as a criticism Jamie just as an observation mate.

Hi Gerald. We had a beautiful family Christmas thank you, hope you did too. I don’t agree that the music doesn’t fit, I think it fits great but then I may be influenced by the original soundtrack which sounds like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3SpZp2tlN-beposi=ZmsiD5Trj-rgrXNm
