WOW--That you did this while in school AND MOVING?!!! AMAZING. I like what Nora Ephron used to say: "Everything is copy." I think you have a good experience, or if you don't, you have a good story. I remind myself of that when I'm in the middle of some sort of existential Pit of Despair. HA! I was just watching Seth Myers talking to Jim Gaffigan and he said that he'll be in the middle of an argument with his wife and she says she can see him WRITING the scene in his head. I loved watching the process video and then reading the book. So much fun. I was rooting for Hazel the whole time. Also...perfect use of "you have no power over me." Loved it!

Here's my 5-star review! This was a fresh take on friends-to-lovers, with horticulture and a nerdy-girl-comicon aesthetic woven in. There were Easter eggs and references for books and movies that bonded the characters to each other, but also the reader to the story. (I'm being vague because I don't want to give any spoilers). You don't have to get all the references to appreciate the story, it just gives an added layer of depth. The chapter headings had me giggling but the dating disasters were HILARIOUS and for so many women, unfortunately relatable! Also relatable were the friendships of the main characters. Sometimes it seems like the purpose of a friendship in a novel is only to push the love-interest narrative forward. These relationships felt like real friendships. Again, no spoilers, but I LOVED the double meaning behind "the dream guy." It was so clever and I was left wondering throughout the novel certain key questions that finally get answered at the end. "Ohhh! THAT'S why . . . ." I can see this as a feel-good romcom movie--or series, expanding the dating disasters. FUN!
