Love these past 3 videos, they have really helped a lot. I don't know why but guitar riffs I think of in my head just don't seem to fit to drum/click tracks.. I'm always too short or long. I'm guessing my internal timer is just out. I find it really hard to play with click tracks too. I've tried changing the patterns but for some reason, my timing is just better when riffing to a drum track. Anyway, great stuff, hope to see more of these longer in-depth videos.

Right on Jason! I suggest to just keep practicing to a click, and eventually you should lock in. I think doing this too, will help with your riff creations! 🎸

I saw you guys in Tallahassee Fl, 4/25/13 with Motionless in White, Asking Alexandria, and White Chapel. One of the best shows, & band combinations ever!! I started listening to Chimaira in 2005, (self titled album (34 now) at age 14 ish.. A friend of mine dead set on proving to me there was a band out there heavier than Slipknot. One day he stumbled upon you guys. He was so sure he found the band. Me being skeptic as usual sat and, I waited for this music to come on so I could laugh at him. But then I heard a voice say, “this song is called, “eyes of a criminal”.. (Jäegermeister tour) Out of nowhere this mean ass music pops off, along with an intense vocal style unique to anything I’ve heard before. Needles to say I was instantly hooked, & my buddy for once was right. Almost 20 years later I’m still a huge fan, & now one of your new subscribers. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🖤🖤🖤🖤

Another great video in this series dude. Keep them coming. Quick question, where are you recording your speech to if it’s not pro tools? Is your Rode mic recording to your phone?
@RobArnoldWorld3 жыл бұрын
Great question man! I had to figure that out.... I was like, "hmmm.... I usually record my spoken audio into pro tools while I'm filming. But because I'm using pro tools to make this video, and constantly stopping and starting it, how am I going to record my vocals??" So yes, exactly as you said, I'm running my vocals straight into an iPhone and recording to the voice recorder. I'm not as happy with the quality, but it gets the job done!

Interesting picking on the first riff. Instinctively i would downpick the 8th to have the speed of the motion stay the same. Did you think about that and chose to stick to alternate picking or do you just play it and thats how it is? Thx

@619dar3 жыл бұрын
loved the samples that you put underneath this Rob. Only one thing that I'd like to point out and that is the bass sounds like something for a video game. So please forgive me. You give me a title for this and that is "Bring the truth". Maybe a song about someone who doesn't know that it's like to tell you the truth and just lies all the time.
@RobArnoldWorld3 жыл бұрын
Ahh yes, I agree the bass sounds somewhat odd on its own. But in the mix, with all other instruments playing, it's less audible, and simply provides the low end support I needed for this track! It's simply a song writing tool, that I wouldn't use solely on its own in a more important production.

@@RobArnoldWorld I've got to say that it sounds really good Rob
@jrlee2433 жыл бұрын
Just for my own curiosity. Is their any situation you use a real amp? Don't get me wrong your tone sounds great. I have nothing against plugins or sims, if it sounds good then it sounds good . I have not made that jump yet in the guitar sim world,( I catch s##t for it all the time, mostly because of time restraint.) but the tone's you get from them are insane. Again great job bro 👏.
@RobArnoldWorld3 жыл бұрын
Trust me bro, I come from the real amp world. I only recently started using amp plugins, and find that the convenience is just too great to ignore. I have two half stacks sitting next to me at all times... But lately I've just been digging the sound of this STL tone hub so much! And the thing is, my main live and recording rig has always been a 5150 (or 6505) thru a mesa cab. And that's the exact combo I use in the STL plug. Sounds good to me!🎸 Cheers!
