That's what I was missing--when are the times that i'm going to CELEBRATE and reward myself for all of my milestones. I just have this aggressive schedule of writing, editing, repeat and I KNOW that for my personal well-being (and relationships) I need to have a balance as well as take it easy on myself. Great talk ladies. Thank you so much!

I really loved this episode. Listened to it while on my riding lawnmower... mowing Ohio grass Inspired me to go write with the hope of 1 day being prolific.

Absolutely wonderful advice about never finding things get easier because you're continuing to push yourself and always improving. I can't believe I never thought about writing that way, but it's so true.

Excellent interview. Joanna, I just finished reading your book, How to Write Non-Fiction, and really enjoyed. Question: I am looking for scripting for e-mails that I can use to launch my book to my list because I am coming up blank with what to write. Can you recommend a book or program that offers an e-mail swipe list?
@thecreativepenn6 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it useful. I don't know about any swipe files for this kind of thing, but wishing you all the best.

Joanna: how do you handle the uncomfortable seats in the cafés?
@thecreativepenn6 жыл бұрын
I'm never there for too long :) but my cafe seats are pretty good!

Interesting but not sure how I become more productive. Seems to me it all depends on what you choose to measure. If I write 4000 words in two hours my productivity is 2000 words an hour, great. But if I thought about a scene for four hours before writing it my overall productivity goes down to 666 words an hour. The plus is my thinking can take place when I am walking the dog, doing shopping etc. All unused downtime.

If you're talking those numbers, you sound productive.

If that four hours helped you to avoid rewriting much of your first draft... time well spent I guess :) And if idea strikes you, then just take a phone and record the great idea. I do it a lot.
