I was born in 1988 and couldn't imagine living during that time. I would have loved to experience. Although I've never lived in Illinois either. But it's nice to hear this.

Could you have lived without the internet?

@@KeyserSoze23 I didn't get internet until 2004 in my household, and I was 16 at the time. I could live with out.

Where in the world did you come up with this WROK 1440 from 1977 ? ? I worked there right around that time. Oh my goodness! 😮 Union Hall was the best store ! Just the BEST! We were always calling in and one and shit off the radio back in those days ! ‘77 was the year I graduated high school.

Today, WROK has Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Larry Elder. WROK is all Conservative Talk now as AM Radio has sunk and WROK had to apply for a 250 Watt FM Translator on 96.1. Elon Musk and Tesla hates AM Radio. This you may not know, Sean Hannity started out as a Rock, Shock Jock. Sean Hannity grew up to AM Rock-n-Roll Radio. By 1977, Top 40-Pop/Rock Radio was beginning to make a move to FM. I'm from the Nashville, Tennessee Market where 92Q WQQK was the first Top 40-Pop/Rock Station (it's Adult Urban Contemporary now) and in 1978 we got WWKX, known as Kicks 104 (today it's WGFX, The Zone all Sports). I remember at night as a kid in Nashville, 890 WLS coming on strong as a Top 40-Pop/Rocker, beating Nashville's 1300 WMAK, 1510 WLAC, and R&B 1470 WVOL. In the 80s while some AM Stations were still playing music, I worked at Nashville's WVOL (The Mighty 147) playing Classic Soul-Oldies in the 80s.

I was a teen in the 90s. I'm 100 miles east of Nashville,100 miles west of Knoxville on the plateau. The only stations we had here were country and one top 40 station. I pulled the antenna on my radio all the way out, hooked it to a series of metal coat hangers than ran over to my window,and I could pick up KDF in Nashville to hear my rock music. Listened to KDF for years. How I cried when they were bought and turned into another country station. Up until I got covid almost 2 years ago,I could still remember all the DJs names. My brain is fried now and I can't remember crap anymore. The last thing Nashville needed was another country station.

If they ever played an instrumental, they'd talk all the way through it.

WROK was an AM station during that time. I can’t believe this guy has this sound video of WROK!
@scottbailey1560 Жыл бұрын
WROK is absolutely not on FM, in 1977 and it's not today. WROK is on AM! If the damn FCC had not been so stupid in the 80s and into the 90s, and left the bandwidth of AM band at 15 KHz, music would still be on AM. Yes, AM Stereo does exist. We have such a stupid government over this country.
