Reading the comments, i know that Jenny is whiny. But i dont dislike it as much. Maybe because i am relating to her to an extent (although there is a huge difference between a 32y.o. mother of three and oldest sibling and a 22y.o. youngest sibling). Also it helps realising that Jenny is not whining to others but still thinking in her own mind(which we are reading) so it feels the same like when i think similar things in my head(whining?) but never say them out loud to anyone Edit: yeah I realised what everyone meant just minutes later. Now even I find it irritating.

i love the book, but for me there was a big difference between the old sister in both books. First book she acts like a real old sister, experienced and cool, in the next she looks insecure, childish and even if she has 3 kids she is only 32, but through the whole but she acts like she's 62, and its very annoying!!
@Diane53M10 ай бұрын
The author is changing the narrator to change the voice in each book, and yes this one Elizabeth Godley makes hers sounds what I would say is depressed not whinney as stated below. She grew uo with an Alcoholic and nasty father and then her husband leaves her with 3 kids to bring up and has to work as he gives her child support by cheques that bounce. That is hard when the children are so young, been there it does get you down. I loved it, especially as she has main man who has alopecia and his son has cerabal pausy excellent inclusion. I agree that it ends strangely after 11 hours, perhaps could have shortened some of the middle content and had a proper ending. I think there are 4 books in the series. I am enjoying them so far.

Jenny did have issues. Liked her a lttle better towards the end. I can kind of relate about dating after so many years of being married. My husband died after we dated 3 yrs and married 37. Don't know how to get back or if I will ever date again. Ending of book cut short. Feele like we were left hanging. ...
@patwalker595810 ай бұрын
I can totally relate to you. I was married 43 yrs. Husband found cheating and we separated. I dated for about 3 yrs. Was very difficult to get into that mood again. Unfortunately I find the pickings are very slim out there and chances are you’re getting someone else’s mistake. Very happily on my own now and have BOB as an occasional “date”. Suits me fine. No hassles and no arguments and no gaslighting anymore.

OMG, I think the author got a little carried away in making this character so whiny and she also comes off as jealous of her own sister, I hope things change soon. 🙄😏
@sam99876 ай бұрын
The story isn't like the first book but even tho the book is pretty realistic and I can see how her life is easily seen as boring and having lack of life. Her character is good because she is able to except the fact that yes she is jealous and also that she still love her little sister. It's normal to be jealous but even better that she as a person is able to except it and acknowledge it as an adult with understanding. I love this book this book is realistic and matter of fact enjoyable. It was cute. 10\10

I love the stories. I do have an issue though. The story of Ozzy and Mae that precedes this had the accents of Ozzy and the gang a certain way... but this one has the accents when they speak very different and it throws me off..... that is the only complaint I have... I am not feeling connected to the guys from before. Yes.. she is aggravating... but that is the way the author intended them. She is a 'big sister', from a background that was very traumatic for her and her sister... we saw Mae's struggle with her own trauma.. and saw how Jenny was towards Mae then. The author has portraited the intricate ways our personalities and previous trauma spills in and messes up our future if we do not recognize it and work on it. good job!!

May and Jenny seem to have such an easy going loving relationship in the first book, but in this one Jenny is rude, and almost seems jealous of may. Not to mention her character is so whiny. I’m not loving this one so far. I’m two hours in so we’ll see if it gets better
@patwalker595810 ай бұрын
Very slow speaking narrator. Not sure I like the character…as others say she’s very whiney and overly critical. Anyway, not sure if I’ll continue the read. Book one was great! Much loved narration, characters and storyline, but this one is kind of depressing.

After listening to the entire book: If you are into the entire series of all the books and want to know what happens with all the characters, you might want to suffer through this one. If you are just listening to the book individually, do not bother...... It was a very difficult book to get through. Terrible dry jokes. This book was very disappointing and I'm surprised by that because the first book was really well. Also the reader is terrible.
