The most difficult part about fixing a broken piece of equipment is putting the smoke back inside.

Erhan Burger The magic smoke really is a bitch. It's so volatile!

Drakkar not as volatile as my farts but hey, that's a completely different issue.

No kidding. I don't have a problem getting the smoke all focused up in one place, but the damn stuff won't reabsorb it!

If only the smoke stayed inside of it, maybe it’d work to this day as a reliable blender? The vent holes are to blame, of course.
@tybo092 жыл бұрын
@@maxxdroid yep. Once you let the smoke out, it doesnt work anymore. Maybe we should seal up stuff better.

Wish he kept it at 240 a longer time. Would have liked to see how long it'd last.
@RWoody19957 жыл бұрын
he didn't get far beyond 240 tbh, within tolerance. some houses get close to 230, some get close to 250, its not inconceivable that some houses could go all the way to 250
@robertjusic90977 жыл бұрын
Qwertydex I think they make one for the european market I guess they use similiar components to cut down on cost so it would maybe actually last a pretty long time
@Qwertydex7 жыл бұрын
It failed at 253. Anyway. In the US, measured 10 homes and I never saw anything beyond 235.13V - 245.01V (yes we use 240V here, its a center tapped pole transformer, Line Neutral Line, 120 0 120) outlets in homes here are usually usually split, half of the home runs on Line 1 and the other half runs on Line 2, while 240V appliances (electric ovens, washing machines...) use all three (L N L) (with neutral just for safety)
@RWoody19957 жыл бұрын
yeah, if failed at 253, so it wouldn't have survived any longer if he kept it at 240, its a small increase relatively speaking :/

The one dislike is from his the power company.
@theranter7 жыл бұрын
Are you kidding? His power company probably loves him... the more electricity he uses, the more money they make...
@MrOpenGL7 жыл бұрын
He puts lots of very short duration, large loads on the grid which stresses components. And also lots of reactive power. Absolutely tons of it. They probably have a dedicated bank of capacitors to compensate all the inductive reactive power :-) And let's not forget about interference and other crap put on the network by burning and overspeeding universal motors ;-) And to top over that, he doesn't consume a lot of energy. Probably 2 or 3 kWh per experiment, which is about 0,6€ at 0,2€/kWh (which is very expensive) so he is a nightmare for the power company :D
@musicmanfelipe7 жыл бұрын
If I recall a previous video, he has a battery system in his house that charges up at night when the rates are cheaper.
@RWoody19957 жыл бұрын
That's only for general house electricity, it can't supply the many KW he tends to pull in his videos, not even for short time periods, for the vids he is purely using grid power.

Fun fact, Back in time there was 110V as paralell for example in some aplications on railroad, Military, etc. Some apparats had a backplate switch that could be adjusted between 110 to 220V (GB had 240V, wich ment 20V above old Scandinavian standard, today EU standard is 230V) A friend told me that he forgot to put back the screw for the voltage switch on the Shaver after wisiting an old Mil camp out in the norhern forest here, so it run on extremly hig speed when he turned it on next morning after went home with the train, but he was able to sawe it...

Especially when it eventually in the end well sort of may be shorted out hence the sparking in arcing. Although some of that could have been opening circuit but usually there's some shorting going on when the motor gets out hot and of course is smoking like that. Once had that on an old 120 volt motor that was running something but it just wore out the point that the warnings were no good probably bit of overload as well but the voters for dirt cheap I knew where I can get them for nothing they were being replace all the time in particular devices so yeah indefinite Supply of the motor so I did not care one bit. Use them in all kinds of things BP Motors use them in all kinds of things Fifi Motors even after they were replaced it don't know why they were being replaced or what they were in but they still work just fine for what I needed but not in the original application for some reason??? Reliability loss of performance who knows I was not the only one picking those Motors up either I found out. A few places in town I could get these as well as large supplies of them. If I remember correctly there were series Motors Universal Motors but it's possible they were DC motors specifically shunt worth compound wound can't remember long time ago all I know is they did have at least one set of brushes in them which occasionally I did replace I kept one Stella compatible on hand is those things just for brushes quite a bit even in normal operation although I think my brush won't life may have been longer interracial because it be running at lower speed my applications normally. Although they were very high quality FIFA Motors still couldn't figure out what priests ever be replaced that's such a heart rate weird maybe it was something that was critical about them that had worn out or who knows?

This makes me remember the hair dryer I brought with me when I visited the States and set it to 110 volt. Then back home I forgot to re-set it to 220 (or 240..) and I started it and felt it was a bit... hot. :D Got very hot quickly and quite red (in the elements) thank goodness I pulled the plug quickly and it is still fine. It is an dryer from 90s and is for "travel use" hence switch. (the kind that you need a fat flat screwdriver)
