Wrong Zincs aka Anodes!

I've been using zinc as an anode instead of magnesium on my Volve Penta/OMC Cobra. I've recently been informed that since my boat lives in fresh water, I need to be using magnesium.
From boatzincs.com:
OMC outdrives that operate in a mix of fresh and saltwater use aluminum anodes.
OMC outdrives that operate in fresh water only use magnesium anodes and should not be used in salt or brackish water.

@@bargemover4270 not at the moment, but it could be done. As long as the “bowling pin” is small enough to seal on the outside, it ought to be a direct swap. If the OMC “bowling pin” is larger compared to the MERC then one would need to modify the transom in a way to make it smaller (as opposed to making it larger, which just means taking material away), which requires water proofing considerations. Basically the transom would have to be rebuilt if the “bowling pin” needs to be smaller. The “bowling pin” is the hole which all the stuff from the motor passes through to the stern drive. When it is all removed, the cut out in the stern drive looks like a bowling pin.
